Ukraine Appeal Charity / Українці в Мілтон Кінс was founded in Milton Keynes following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Its mission was simple: stand alongside those whose lives had been turned upside down.

From supporting displaced families through community events, wellbeing programmes and the Sunflower Ukrainian Supplementary School, to delivering life-saving humanitarian aid and helping children continue their education in Ukraine, every act of generosity helps write another chapter of hope.

The latest chapter comes thanks to a donation that will soon place much-needed computers into the hands of pupils and teachers at a school in Ukraine.

The donation made possible through the generosity of Professor Michael Mainelli and Z/Yen Group Limited will see refurbished computers travel from London to Lyceum No. 2 School in the Pokrovsk City Council, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, where they'll support pupils and teachers determined to keep education alive.

Even more encouragingly, this is only the beginning.

Following the success of this collaboration, Professor Mainelli and the Tech 4 Reuse partners have committed to continuing the initiative, with plans for 40 additional refurbished laptops to be donated through Ukraine Appeal to the same school in the future.

In June 2020 we began recording known CO2e emissions savings to outwardly demonstrate the effectiveness of technology reuse as a catalyst for climate action.

Our combined efforts to extend the life of technology through refurbishment and reuse have resulted in the prevention of 1,987 tonnes of CO2e emissions, a significant environmental milestone that demonstrates the real-world impact of circular economy solutions towards Net Zero.

This achievement reflects the growing commitment of organisations to extend product lifecycles and embrace more sustainable technology practices.

By keeping technology in circulation for longer, IT donors are helping to reduce demand for new manufacturing, conserve valuable resources, and avoid unnecessary electronic waste.

Together, our donors are showing that environmental responsibility doesn't stop when a device reaches the end of its first use, it continues through refurbishment, reuse and circular thinking.

By advocating responsible tech practices, we’re reducing e-waste, protecting natural resources, and directly contributing to the Net Zero agenda in the UK.

At our Camden Tech 4 Reuse events last month, refurbished devices were distributed to a range of frontline organisations working across London to support people experiencing crisis, trauma, and social vulnerability to help strengthen the digital infrastructure behind essential community services.

Among those supported were The Salvation Army United Kingdom and Ireland Territory, The Living Centre, Queen's Crescent Community Association, and The Kindness Offensive.

The Salvation Army United Kingdom and Ireland Territory are using the refurbished laptops to support survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking by enabling access to online education, job applications, healthcare information, and essential services. They also help individuals stay connected with support workers, reducing isolation and supporting recovery and longer-term independence.

At The Living Centre, devices will support coordination across health, wellbeing, employment, and financial inclusion programmes.

Queen's Crescent Community Association will use the laptops to support Youth and Family Services, helping deliver one-to-one and group work with families and young people. They will enable access to schoolwork, online services, and external support, strengthening digital inclusion in one of Camden’s most deprived communities.

At The Kindness Offensive, devices will support the coordination of large-scale and everyday donation-led initiatives.

Across these organisations, digital access plays a vital role supporting everything from survivor recovery and counselling services to community wellbeing programmes, youth and family support, and large-scale coordination of donated goods and essential resources.

Behind every refurbished laptop we donate is an organisation choosing to do the right thing with its technology.

Today we’re shining a spotlight on Paxton Access Ltd whose commitment to environmental good is proving that responsible IT disposal and reuse can power positive change far beyond the workplace.

From the outset Paxton has been a valued corporate IT donor, providing a continuous stream of surplus devices from across their organisation. Their support has not only enabled us to extend the life of valuable technology but has also strengthened the collective impact we can make together.

Over the past 18 months, Paxton has generously donated 237 devices for reuse, making a meaningful contribution to both social impact and environmental stewardship. Their efforts have resulted in 25 tonnes of CO2e being prevented from landfill, a testament to the real change that happens when organisations prioritise responsible IT management and reuse.

We are proud to celebrate Paxton Access as a long standing IT donor partner whose actions exemplify the power of collaboration, shared values and collective environmental responsibility.

For charities supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals, refurbished computers can make a meaningful difference in education, employment, and everyday life.

Through a series of IT donations, several organisations working within the neurodiversity space are gaining additional resources to strengthen the vital support they provide to their communities.

Neurodiversity in Business is dedicated to creating a world where neurodivergent people are not only included but genuinely enabled to thrive in work, in life, and in society.

Founded from a recognition of both the barriers neurodivergent people face and the extraordinary value they bring, the charity provides practical and sustainable solutions that bridge the gap between talent and opportunity. The donated laptop will enhance the charity’s capacity to support volunteers while strengthening educational and skills-development initiatives that help organisations build more inclusive workplaces.

London Autism Group Charity is an autistic-led organisation working to advance the mental health, wellbeing, and social inclusion of autistic people and their families across London.

The charity promotes autism acceptance while working to reduce stigma and discrimination, creating inclusive spaces where autistic people can connect, feel understood, and thrive.

The refurbished laptops donated will allow people to apply for jobs, complete online training, attend virtual interviews, and build confidence while navigating the job market in a more comfortable and accessible environment.

BeyondAutism works with autistic children and young people to access meaningful education, develop independence, and live fulfilling lives. Their approach is grounded in the belief that behaviour is communication, and they work closely with families to build understanding, confidence, and long-term outcomes.

Technology plays an important role in their work, helping young people engage with learning and develop alternative ways to communicate. The donated laptop will support learning sessions where technology is used to encourage engagement and self-expression.

Devices are also loaned to families to help maintain consistency between home and support settings, ensuring children can continue developing skills in familiar environments.
