Touring Caravan A Frame Cover Repair.
This is an Alco chassis with an ABS plastic frame cover. The damage had been previously repaired using a soldering iron or something similar but not successful.
I've sanded the old soldering iron marks. Used hot staples to hold the parts in place and used white ABS rods on the final welds both inside and outside of the cover. I've ground the weld back so still slightly raised. Some fine grit sand paper will nicely complete the repair.

Grass Track Car Radiator Damage.
Most of the plastic radiator side panels and header tanks seem to be Nylon or Glass Reinforced Nylon. This one is no exception. PA6 rod did the job nicely.

Fourty Year Old John Deere Peddle Tractor.

A local gentleman wanted to repair his sons tractor. Probably his pride and joy 40 years ago. Both front wheels worn thin down the centre. Cracks had started to form, it looked like it wouldn't be long before the wheels would be totally split apart.
I've welded the cracks using low density polyethylene, then overlayed high density polyethylene flat strips down the middle. To add some strength and give the wheels a longer life I've also welded some high density polyethylene rods so the wheels will take longer to wear down again. This old toy will soon be carting muck around the yard again.

Two heating oil tanks that had splits due to oxidising and age. I've seen quite a few tanks with similar damage. This type of damage is fairly easy to repair. Both tanks are moulded from HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). The damage is at the top of the tanks on corners and bends. Most likely these are the areas open to sunlight. I've used a 4mm round HDPE rod to weld and seal the cracks.

A little repair I did a while ago. This is part of a Honda Africa Motorcycle Fairing. The outer is moulded from ABS, the inner fairing is Nylon (PA6). Both panels had damage. The customer wanted the welds leaving raised to do all the rubbing down and prepwork befor painting.

30 degree gutter joints for a bespoke building project. Customer mitred the angles to the desired bend. I've use hot staples to hold the two halves together. Then welded uPVC 10 mm flat strips to the outside to hide the join. I've cut a deep V on the inside and welded a 4 mm uPVC rod to join and strengthen the inside. Really pleased with the result

TOURING CARAVAN ROOF CRACKING
This seems to be a problem with some modern touring caravans, particularly on the rear panel roof corners. I've seen this cracking on tourers less than 5 years old. Not sure how old this tourer is but the cracking is quite extensive. Most of these rear panels are manufactured from ABS, a hard plastic that becomes brittle with age. Think this problem is a combination of heat, sun, oxidisation and body moving when towing. The wood frame was exposed and the oxidisation is quite deep and needed grinding back to get a decent surface before attempting to weld. I was surprised to see that the panel is only about 2 to 3mm thick. I used 4mm filler rod and overlayed 8mm flat rod. The left side crack was wider and needed 5mm filler (I only had black in 5mm). The finnish looks a bit scruffy but I didn't want to grind and sand back the welds and make the area weak again. At least the tourer roof is sealed and dry.
