Before & After – Renovation of 19 Metal Casement Windows 🔨✨

A satisfying transformation on this lovely property in Cheltenham.

These 19 original metal casements had seen better days — severely rusted, with the majority of the lower sills no longer intact and several hinges rusted beyond repair.

Rather than replace them, we carried out a sympathetic restoration, retaining as much of the original fabric and character as possible.

🔧 Extensive welding repairs to the casement frames and sills
🛠️ Replacement/repair of heavily corroded hinges
🎨 Complete stripping of years of accumulated paint from the original window furniture
✨ Revealing the original brass beneath decades of paint
🏡 Fully restored, prepared and refitted back into the property

The end result is a set of original windows brought back into service while retaining the character and craftsmanship of the building.

✨ Two Phases. One Stunning Transformation. ✨

Some projects are worth waiting for…

Back in December, we completed the first phase of this beautiful entrance by replacing the door panel and both side panels with bespoke stained glass, bringing character and elegance back to the property. (Original in the last photo)

The customer wanted more! Today, we returned to complete phase two by installing the 12 top lights, tying the entire entrance together exactly as envisioned.

The result speaks for itself. The panels look as though they have always been part of the original property, while creating a real wow factor the moment you walk through the door. It enhances the period features perfectly, floods the hallway with beautifully filtered light, and gives the entrance the grand appearance it deserves.

It’s always satisfying to stand back and see a vision come together.

A fantastic transformation on this property with the addition of four bespoke leaded glass panels.

The brief was to create a design that complemented the existing leaded top lights and internal glazing, while remaining as sympathetic as possible to the character of the street. Originally fitted with solid doors, the property stood out, with around 90% of neighbouring homes featuring traditional double doors with leaded lights.

After careful consultation and several design revisions, we arrived at a pattern that feels both authentic and in keeping with the original architecture. The finished result enhances the entrance beautifully and, perhaps most importantly, looks as though it has always been there.

Traditional craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and a result that perfectly suits the property. ✨

We never shy away from a challenge.

Customer was set on having an opening porthole window-but with a curve this tight, other specialists said it simply couldn’t be done. Never say never, anything is possible.

We brought in our specialist blacksmith to hand-forge a bespoke opening casement, and the result speaks for itself…fits like a glove.
Paired with a beautifully crafted leaded light in genuine antique glass, like mortared in with brass slotted fixings, it’s a standout finish.

A job many said wasn’t possible... turned into something small but special
