Part 3:

Now we have written down what we have done.

Let's properly flesh it out!

Make sure you watch the video to the very end.

Part 2 on the Story Bank Series.

We are often to quick to dismiss our wins or even the little things we've done.

Unbestknown to us, those are important stories we can use.

So please if you come across this, get a pen and a paper and write.

Recall everything you've ever done and you will realise that the Job you are selling yourself short on is something you can actually do and exceed it.

See you next time.

“Unfortunately, you have not been in the UK for 3 years.”

I’ve heard this one more times than I can count.

And every time, it raises the same question…

At what point does experience actually start to count?

Because what they don’t see is everything behind that statement.

The years of work before moving.
The ability to adapt to a completely new system.
The effort it takes to rebuild from scratch.

That counts.

But in structured hiring systems, it’s not always about what you’ve done…
It’s about how it’s interpreted.

And if your experience isn’t framed in a way that fits what they’re looking for,
it gets filtered out.

Not because you’re not capable.
But because it doesn’t “read” the right way.

That’s the gap.

And it’s bigger than most people realise.

We focus on helping you position your experience so it actually translates.

Because it should count.

And it should be seen.

“After careful consideration…”

I remember opening that email and already knowing.

Another rejection.

This one hurt more because I actually tried.

I took my time.
Researched the organisation.
Aligned my answers.

I thought this one would go somewhere.

But it didn’t.

And that’s when the questions start:

Did I miss something?
Am I not good enough?
What are they seeing that I’m not?

Looking back, I realised something important…

It wasn’t about my ability.
It was about how I was presenting it.

In competitive hiring processes, clarity is everything.

If your value isn’t obvious,
it gets overlooked.

Even when it’s there.

This is where a lot of people especially immigrants struggle.

You’ve done the work.
You have the experience.

But it’s not being communicated in a way these systems understand.

That’s the gap.

That’s why **The Grit Experience** exists.

To help you present your value clearly, confidently, and in a way that gets seen .

“After careful consideration…”

I remember opening that email and pausing.

You know that feeling when you haven’t even finished reading, but you already know what it says. Your eyes are still moving, but your mind has already landed.

This one hit differently because I didn’t rush it.

I actually took my time. I looked into the organisation properly. I went through the role, made sure my answers matched, and tried to present my experience as clearly as I could.

I thought this one would go somewhere.

So when the rejection came, it threw me off.

Not just because it was a no, but because I couldn’t make sense of it.

You start going over everything again.

Did I miss something?
Was I off in how I answered?
What exactly are they looking for that I’m not seeing?

That back and forth can get into your head if you let it sit for too long.

Looking back now, I can see what the issue was.

It wasn’t that I didn’t have the ability. It was that I wasn’t communicating it clearly enough.

In these kinds of hiring processes, clarity is everything.

You can’t assume people will connect the dots for you. You can’t expect them to read between the lines and figure out what you’re trying to say.

They won’t.

If it’s not obvious, it gets passed over.

And this is where a lot of immigrants struggle, even when they’re fully capable.

You’ve worked, adapted, figured things out in environments that required a lot from you. You’ve built experience that actually means something.

But when it’s time to present that experience in a structured system, it doesn’t always come through the way it should.

So you end up applying over and over again, getting responses that don’t match what you know you’re capable of.

That gap is frustrating because it’s hard to explain.

That’s why I built The Grit Experience.

It’s focused on helping people take what they’ve actually done and present it in a way that is clear, structured, and easy to understand in these systems.

No pushing you into roles that don’t reflect your level. No guessing.

Just making sure what you bring is properly seen.

You didn't get rejected because you were underqualified.

You got rejected because someone else made it easier for the recruiter to say yes.

Same experience. Clearer story. Different outcome.

Recruitment doesn't reward potential that needs decoding. It rewards whoever made the decision easiest.

The gap isn't always in what you've done.
It's in how it reads.
