🔥 EUROPEAN ONE-STOP-SHOP SCHEME🔥

The OSS scheme is the electronic portal that businesses can use to comply with their VAT obligations on e-commerce sales within the EU to consumers since 1 July 2021.

Now with this new scheme, B2C sellers will no longer be required to complete complicated VAT filings in each country they are selling in, just one OSS filing alongside their usual domestic VAT return that includes any other relevant transaction that cannot be declared under the special OSS scheme.

🔥 NEW EU VAT SCHEME IMPORT ONE-STOP-SHOP (IOSS)🔥

From the 1st of July, we had the introduction of the new VAT scheme, IMPORT ONE STOP SHOP (IOSS).

This new scheme has been introduced to avoid vat fraud as it used to happen before, with the exemption of VAT on low-value consignment valued up to 22€.

This new scheme avoids also big companies with a high volume of sales to do the registration for VAT in each of the 27 European countries where they’re selling.

The Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) is an electronic portal. The portal facilitates and simplifies the tax declaration and payment of VAT for distance sales of imported goods with a value of up to €150.

The IOSS covers products shipped or transported from outside the EU at the time of sale, products with a value not exceeding € 150, and not subject to excise duties (e.g. alcohol or to***co).

🔥Starbucks is streaming in China🔥

You might think the food and beverage industry does not fit the streaming marketing method, as it is quite hard to convert into actual sales. Well, businesses in China proves otherwise.

Even before the coronavirus outbreak, Starbucks has been partnering with influencers and celebrities to stream on TaoBao Live, one of the most popular streaming platform in China. These product review streams have yielded impressive results for Starbucks. Within the first 30 mins of KOL Viya’s Snack Fest, 90 thousand Mocha Frappuccino and 38 thousand cups of latte are sold. And what’s interesting is, these are sold in vouchers rather than actual drinks.

🔥Ikea joins TMall in China🔥

The Swedish furniture retail company has finally opened its online flagship store in Alibaba’s TMall. Ikea originally has a total of 30 physical stores in China but obviously this number is far from enough to cover the massive market. And in face of the coronavirus outbreak threat, over half of these stores have been temporarily closed.

However, the virus outbreak is only part of the reason for the launch of Ikea’s online store. Ikea has been testing different online business models in China for a few years now. It has previously launched its own online shopping platform and an AR app for home design but the performance was not ideal. This partnership with TMall has received greater feedback and much more followers than before.

The digitalisation of Ikea has only begun, though. Currently, the online store only delivers to a limited 4 cities, it will need to consolidate its delivery infrastructure and expand its cover, or the popularity it has now will be short-lived.

Looking at data from both Apple App Store and Google Play Store, AFK Arena accounts for 53.5% and Rise of Kingdoms accounts for 44.4% of the company’s revenue.

Unlike the number 1 and 2 profiting Tencent and NetEase in China, who get the majority of their revenue from China’s market itself, Lilith Games earned 64.1% of its revenue from oversea users. Lilith Games demonstrates an accurate understanding of oversea gamer expectation and is able to develop games that satisfy these needs.

Lilith Games is expected to continue growing rapidly as it goes on putting out new titles. It is estimated that it will soon supersede the Russian company Playrix in the 3rd place.
