Hi!

It’s been a while….

I want to say a massive THANK YOU to all of you who supported My Adventure Date, you helped to make a dream come true for me 💫

My Adventure Date was a company created from passion- a passion for spending time in the great outdoors and a passion for getting people together and creating a fun and safe space to meet other singles and I will always stand by this…. If you’re dating, don’t waste your time on your phone- get up and out. You might meet someone via an app but don’t chat for ages, arrange a meet (safely) asap. Check them out with a phone call first.

There’s still a lot of passion.

My Adventure Date may have come to a natural end…. But on a high! The last event was so fun! I absolutely loved being part of planning a route and leading a group at such a fantastic festival which I look forward to all year every year, it was a total ‘pinch me’ moment.

So….. for all of you who has followed, attended events and supported My Adventure Date, THANK YOU 🙏🏻 THANK YOU 🙏🏻 THANK YOU. It has been an amazing journey.

Round 2 of Kendal Mountain Festival! A little soggy today, leading another sunrise hike with another great group!

Best fact of the day: did you know, Kendal mint cake was taken on the first successful expedition of Everest (with Edmond Hillary and Tenzing Norgay) 🎉

Joined a free Meetup walk today round Tatton Park, my first 'meet up' group experience, the walk itself isn't new to me but I love joining group walks because I always come away with something.

Today I came away with a beautiful encounter with a stag. It was because my friend is very comfortable and confident with wildlife which gave me the confidence too.

Shame to see chunks of venison in the fridge afterwards, mind.

Note to self: wander off the path, stay curious, appreciate and respect nature.

Also realised Farrers coffee shop (where we're going next week with Kendal Mountain Festival) distributes coffee further afield than the lake district 🙂

It's a PASS!!!

I'm a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader! 🎉

Three gruelling days of navigaing in the never ending moorland with .co.uk and wow- it was worth it.

Day 1
I was suffering with belly dropping nerves, several visits to the ladies for me.... And I didn't settle in to it either. In fact for me, day 1 was disastrous, with my lowest point being when I emerged out of the bushes approaching the group at the destination point, panting excessively with blood on my face & twigs branching out from my hat- I'd made a bad navigation decision.

Luckily, the assessors account for these first day nerves.

Day 2- following day 1 drama, I convinced myself that I had failed. I had a sob in the car, buckled up and launched myself in to day 2 with this thought... 'I've failed already, I've nothing to lose so I may as well get as much out of it as possible, get all the learnings I need to pass next time'.

Day 3- Turns out day 1 wasn't as bad as it was in my head- I was told it was a 'strong pass'! I cried again- this time happy tears.

Learnings from this....

- Determination gets you through a challenge.
- embrace 'failure'- it's only a learning curve. We simply can't be good at something right away & all the time.

For anyone who's thinking about doing it - do it!
