I’ve stayed pretty quiet on this because I really don’t want to be that person telling business owners everything they’re doing on social media is wrong.
Unless you’re actively damaging your business, your marketing isn’t wrong.
But … Stop using AI for your marketing. There. I said it. 👀
Now let me clarify before anyone comes for me 😂
There is absolutely a place for AI in marketing.
It can help you brainstorm ideas in seconds, plan content, tidy up a caption, create an image and get you past that horrible blank page moment before you’ve even had chance to finish your coffee. I use it too.
But it should be a tool. NOT your marketing department.
Social media managers are competing with the bot and are losing as quickly as city are about to lose their trophies 🤣
Small businesses are understandably looking at AI and thinking, why would I pay somebody when I can ask this to write me 30 posts in five minutes?
And on paper it seems like a smart move.
Until everybody starts doing exactly the same thing.
The captions start sounding familiar.
The images start having that recognisable AI look.
The hooks follow the same formulas.
The same words appear again and again.
And slowly the thing that should make your marketing unmistakably you starts disappearing.
AI can’t manufacture your experience, your opinions, the conversation you had with a customer this morning, the thing that went completely wrong last week, why you started the business, the way you explain something, the silly little moments behind the scenes.
The knowledge you’ve built from actually doing what you do every single day.
Good marketing shouldn’t make your business look like everyone else’s.
I’m not saying break up with your Chat GPT!
Use it to save time. Use it to organise your thoughts. Use it to brainstorm. Use it to help when you’re stuck.
But you are your brand. Don’t lose that.
There is no replacement for building human connections 🩷
