SR stands for Sustainable and Responsible; we are determined to improve our world of the envi

ronment. Having seen the amount of plastic waste generated by the eCommerce industry, we would like to do our part to make a change. Our mission now is to adopt zero waste concept that considers the complete lifecycle impact of a product from raw materials to sorting/reprocess all the way till end-of-life disposal. Our first product was recycled mailing bags, now is 100% recycled, recycled packaging requires much less energy and resources than virgin materials, and gives new life to materials that would otherwise be wasted away in the landfill. If something can’t be recycled, composting is the next best end-of-life option, if the product can’t be recycled or composted, we are working with ClimatePartner to get those products to offset to carbon neutral.95% of our products are earth-friendly, and you can shop with confidence as we work with more than 9000 eco-conscientious businesses by developing packaging made with as much recycled content as is humanly possible, and that can be easily recycled into new packaging in its next
life. SR Mailing has developed three ranges of sustainable products:
·100% recycled packaging for eCommerce dispatch eg 100% recycled mailing bags and 100% recycled cardboard boxes
·Developing difficulty in recycling plastic alternative biodegradable & compostable materials eg we developed a complete range of paper padded envelopes to replace traditional hard to separated HDPE bubble envelopes; home compostable mailing bags made from bioplastic to replace fossil-fuel plastic.
·We offset 249430 kg of carbon emissions supported offset project Hydropower Virunga DR Congo which means products not made from recycled nor compostable are carbon neutral.

Why is kraft paper brown?

Kraft paper is usually brown because it is made from unbleached pulp. Its natural colour remains when the bleaching stage is removed.

But kraft paper can also be bleached, so it is not always brown.

And remember: a brown appearance does not automatically mean the paper is recycled, FSC certified or more sustainable.

Brown is a colour. Any environmental claim needs evidence.

What makes packaging tape stick?

The backing gets most of the attention, but the adhesive system matters too.

Acrylic and rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesives are both common in tapes. Acrylic formulations are often selected where ageing and environmental resistance matter. Rubber-based systems are often chosen for fast initial bond and high tack.

But the chemistry name is not the whole specification. Backing, formulation, coating weight and application conditions can all change how a tape performs.

Before choosing, test the tape on the actual carton and consider:

• the carton surface
• application temperature and pressure
• storage and transit conditions
• hand or machine application

Then confirm the choice against the supplier data sheet.

Do not choose tape by backing alone.

What does FSC actually tell you about paper packaging?

It provides evidence about the sourcing and chain of custody of forest-based material.

The three main labels mean different things:
• FSC 100%: material from FSC-certified forests
• FSC Mix: FSC-certified, recycled and/or FSC controlled material
• FSC Recycled: forest-based material verified as 100% recycled

What FSC does not tell you by itself is the pack's strength, grammage or whether it is accepted in every local recycling collection. Those are separate questions.

Precise labels make stronger claims.

For context, 79% of SR Mailing's purchased materials were covered by FSC certification in our 2025/26 reporting period.

What does micron actually mean on a mailing bag?

A micron is a unit of thickness. One micron is 0.001 mm, and flexible packaging specifications often use it to describe the thickness of a film.

The useful bit is what the number does not tell you.

Micron is not a complete measure of quality or strength. Material formulation, bag construction, seals, and real-use conditions can all affect performance.

That is why a higher number is not automatically the right answer. Specify the performance. Not just the micron.
