“I’ve spent years feeding people because food is my love language.
Yesterday, when I couldn’t cook for myself, someone fed me.”
For years I’ve cooked for family, friends, customers and even strangers simply because I love sharing food.
A couple of months ago I met someone at my local supermarket who heard my Jamaican accent and we started talking about food. He has only had my cooking twice, but yesterday, after my hand surgery, he surprised me by cooking chilli con carne with jacket potatoes & crispy onions and riding his bicycle to my home to drop some off for me and my daughter because he knew I couldn’t cook.
In all the years I’ve spent feeding people, no one had ever done that for me before.
It meant more to me than he will ever realise.
Many of you know I’ve been struggling with pain in my hands for a long time, which is why I haven’t been cooking as much lately. After this surgery and the next one on my other hand, I’ll be back doing what I love most cooking all your favourite dishes again.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support Tastediflava.
Food is my love language… and kindness always comes back around. ❤️
