Next up in the Think Energy Glossary: SDGs.
And today is a perfect day for shining a light on this term, as it's the Global Week to Act for SDGs.
SDGs stand for the Sustainable Development Goals, a master plan created by the United Nations to make the world a better, fairer, and safer place by 2030.
Countries around the world agreed on these goals in 2015 to fix big problems that affect people and nature, and today marks 11 years since: 17 global goals covering areas like energy, climate, inequality and health, meant as a shared blueprint for governments and businesses working towards that fairer, more sustainable world.
Think Hire, a division of Think Energy Group, links its ESG strategy to nine of these goals, with the three biggest forming the basis of the business.
🔋SDG 7, affordable and clean energy, is about making sure power is available and doesn't cost the earth, literally or financially. Sites still need power, and that power has to come from somewhere better than fossil fuels. Our solar hybrid generators and battery energy storage exist for exactly this.
🔋SDG 13, climate action, calls for cutting emissions and building resilience to a changing climate. The off-grid energy system we deploy instead of diesel is a direct, measurable choice about how much carbon a site emits.
🔋SDG 9, industry, innovation and infrastructure, is about building resilient infrastructure and backing the innovation that supports it.
