Looking for some awesome clinical CPD?

Without having to travel anywhere and with a wonderful set of speakers?

Look no further.

I'm excited to be co-hosting and helping facilitate the upcoming Vtx_cpd day: A Day in the Life of a Brachycephalic Dog in Practice.

I've had the privilege of working with vtx in various capacities over the past six years, since we first connected on Instagram in 2020 (though Scott I actually met by chance at an emergency shift a couple of years before that).

What I've always loved about vtx is how they combine rigorous, evidence-based content with genuine kindness and respect for the realities of everyday general practice.

I've facilitated many of their sessions over the years, and I'm consistently inspired by how the whole team go above and beyond to answer questions, follow up afterwards and ensure everyone is heard. There truly is no such thing as a stupid question in their space. It's really special.

They also heavily advocate for RVNs (the awesome Georgia Woods-Lee is speaking at this event!), share kind words, encourage others behind the scenes, sponsor new events... the list goes on. Genuinely wonderful people.

I LOVE them, and I think you will too.

If you're looking for practical, high-quality CPD on caring for our canine brachycephalic patients (everything from anaesthesia to nutrition, BOAS surgery to neurology and dermatology) this day has an amazing lineup of specialist vets and nurses covering a wide range of topics.

I'm also quietly grateful that vtx probably single-handedly ensures I hit my clinical CPD each year.
So much of my learning now is non-clinical, given the work I do, but I love that they help me keep a hand in on the clinical side too.

One of my favourite CPD organisations out there.
Have a look if you haven't already.
Maybe share with someone who is looking for some online CPD on this topic, it would make my day (and theirs too!)

Exciting news! We've announced Dr. Chris Turner as the incredible keynote for Veterinary Human Factors Live 2026.

If you're on the Vet Empowered or VetLed mailing lists, the link to buy your Early Bird ticket will be live in your inbox right now.

For everyone else... 9am!

They've been selling quickly over the weekend so act fast and grab your seat.

So, who's delivering our inspiring keynote at VHFL 2026?

We're super excited to finally be able to share that Dr Chris Turner will be delivering the keynote sessions at this event...

That's right, there's more than one session!

Rather than just one session at the beginning or the end of the day, Chris's contributions will bookend the day - setting the tone in the morning and then rounding the day off with relevant, actionable, takeaways.

He will be in the room all day, listening, joining discussions, and tracking the threads that matter, so his closing session won't just be a generic recap, but a grounded synthesis of what the profession says when we give it the space to think together.

Then he’ll do what he does best: name the moment, raise the bar, and invite all of us into the kind of action that lasts. Chris knows what it takes to create change and will bring to life just why collaboration is key.

If you're on our mailing lists, the ticket link's already in your inbox - check yesterday's mail! If not, don't worry, general sale starts tomorrow at 9am, and we'll share the links on our social pages and website.

A gentle reminder that we only have a limited number of Early Bird tickets available (65), so grab yourself a bargain while you can! Early Bird tickets are just £180 inc VAT.

I always love being part of these sessions with Scott and Vtx_cpd.

They're always really interesting, actionable and nuanced from an incredible bunch of speakers.

This will be a brilliant day of CPD, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions in a kind, supportive space.

Make sure you check it out!

Fun fact: Scott and I actually first met on an emergency shift where we both locummed, probably back in 2017!

This week, I'm collecting a Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons 🤯

And yes - shock horror - this is something you actually apply for, but you don't just bestow it upon yourself.

So why did I apply?

Because I want to see where I can continue to do good for the humans of this profession.

That's genuinely what I think about every day - whether we're running events, coaching, delivering workshops, posting on social media, creating resources, or hosting guest webinars.

But I also applied because I didn't see many people like me going for it (and a few kind nudges!)...

My only Fellowship exposure years back was to people more senior to me. More years of practice. More qualifications. More impressive job titles. And that made me completely overlook the impact I was already bringing to the table.

We've worked directly with nearly 700 graduates at Vet Empowered . Hundreds more have been through our programmes. Thousands have attended our talks and webinars.

I've been involved in countless other projects from financial wellbeing to supporting students to hosting conferences.

If I'd waited until I saw someone like me already there, the cycle would just continue.

Nothing I do is really fuelled by external accolades. But it is fuelled by opening up possibility - for myself and for others who might be watching.

If you're holding back on something because you think it's not for you... maybe someone else out there is waiting to see you go for it too?

And this week, I actually feel pretty proud of myself. ❤️🙏

I’ve always told myself I couldn’t step away because my business is here. 🤯

But I’ve been off social media this week (and I'm posting this from my laptop right now). ✨

Watching members of our Vet Empowered community take themselves offline really made me pause and be inspired.

As a coach, I had to ask myself: was that belief about me not being able to be offline because of my business actually true… or just a story I was holding onto?

When I examined it, I realised there is another way. Honouring that pull to rest, follow that inspiration and step back has been so needed. I could find ways around it to still serve my business and my wish to reduce my usage... like right now.

This week has been wonderful - coaching calls with my entrepreneur clients, new projects, talks, Vet Empowered calls, a grad workshop - and resisting the temptation to cram every spare moment. Space brings clarity.

Also look at some of my photos from this week that made me smile. 🥹

These 9 themes kept circling while I was offline. None of these are new ideas to me, but they've come up time and time again - maybe they’ll land with you too. 💜

I have had to learn this because I've burned out too many times ⬆️

I tried the traditional balance view throughout my 20s.

Most of it looked like trying to perfectly curate each area of my life, and spinning plates to keep them all afloat whilst life was life-ing.

Then, like whack-a-mole - a new challenge would come along and an area would come crashing down.

I would feel like I had failed. AGAIN.

Let's not even start on how much energy constantly living in a 'sympathetic' life of fight/flight responses cost me. (Something we talk about more at )

Now, I will consciously dial an area down if I can - it's not a failure. I set boundaries. Sometimes my house stays a mess, sometimes the washing gets left until Wednesday. Sometimes I go all in on a work project and I have to factor that in to the week after, as well as nano recharges where I can. Some days I re-learnt lessons I thought I knew already.

I'm not perfect at this because perfect doesn't exist.

This post sat in my drafts for a few weeks, and then my friend starting talking about his experience with balance this week - and I decided maybe it was time to bring it back to life.

I think it's really important we talk about these topics in vetmed and beyond.

Also, you get to find what helps you. Don't fall for the insta-perfect views. It's all an illusion anyway, because you'll never see a full story in a snippet.

BUT it is absolutely possible to find what feels supportive for you. Ditch the societal pressures of what it should feel like and tune into YOU. That beautiful, authentic, one off human.
