CALL FOR AN INTELLECTUAL DISCUSSION: Join me in trying to explain what is happening to our beloved Naija. Read my take below and add your our explanation. All are welcome to join the discussion. Treat this as a root cause analysis of where we find ourselves now and avoid religious, tribal , ethnic and political sentiments.....I am concerned by the lack of intellectual content in the on going debate on the expectation of change to the standard of living and general state of affairs in Nigeria since the inception of the Buhari regime. I am hereby calling for an informed discussion devoid of tribal, religious or political sentiments to explain what is happening to our otherwise worried citizenry who appear not to understand what has hit them contrary to their expectation of immediate change for good in terms of corruption, dysfunctional government systems and procedures, the business environment and the economy to mention just a few key aspects that impact on the day to day life of the people. From my point of view I dare say one needs a bit of understanding of Systems Behaviour which is one of the core training for professional engineers and econometrics to appreciate what is happening. Additionally I recommend an understanding of "Cause & Effects" concepts as applied in engineering design of systems. If you view the whole system of government of Nigeria as one giant system that was last stable during the Obasanjo government, once such a system is seriously disturbed as was the case by the Jonathan lead PDP government when there was total anarchy, complacency, lawlessness, money laundering, misappropriation and stealing of vast amount of public funds. In short a total breakdown of organised governance. By viewing government as a large system that we all interact with on a daily basis, depending on how complex it is and the ability to absorb shocks it will definitely become unstable at some stage in the future due to some of the factors I have afore mentioned having taken place earlier on. Nigeria’s national economy is a giant system with millions of parameters that affect it. Changes to little things are hardly noticeable but big shocks like a sudden loss of much needed income required to fuel the system can create significant instability for prolonged periods in the future. Such instability trends cannot suddenly be stopped as you can break a car and change direction at will . It continues until you set a realistic target for recovery like in any feedback loop in any engineering control system and gradually feedback the deficiency and allow time for the system to stabilize. If you over correct you will cause greater instability by unconsciously creating a feed-forward open loop. In that instance you have hyperinflation, social unrest and other unforeseen reactions. In this instance the causes came from Jonathan's tenure and the effects viz a viz the instability generated started appearing early in Buhari's term of office. Depending on the availability of resources and speed of changes to the modus operandi (i.e. life style and social values) to make the needed corrections the situation may well last throughout Buhari's first term in office. Whoever come later will reap the fruits of what Buhari is doing now to resolve the situation. This is my take on explaining the situation; we will like to hear yours.

Goodluck Jonathan and US President Obama have both been in power for six years! You are highly recommended to spare a little time to view this self assessment of Obama's time in office and his vision for the future! Obama is African American which means he shares some common genes with Jonathan even though he does not possess the highly trumped up PhD that Jonathan claims he has but acquired leadership skill on the streets of the ghetto rather that in lecture hall of a university. Jonathan has the opportunity of the Nigerian Presidential campaign to present his own self assessment and stop blaming others for his failures! Diverting the debate towards Buhari's school certificate or the lack of it is a great injustice to the intelligent people of Nigeria. Let's have your thoughts on the salient issues that determine great leadership as we differentiate the leadership qualities of Obama, Jonathan and Buhari beyond the worthless pieces of papers that have since become the focus of discussions!!!
