How do we measure what really matters?

In a world that values numbers - ROI, GDP, volunteer hours - it’s easy to lose sight of the human stories behind the stats.

Join us for our May Masterclass, where we'll be joined by social designer Joanne Irvine.

Her session, titled "Evaluating What Matters: Exploring how to capture and showcase social value beyond the pound", will challenge how you think about social value and volunteer impact.

Using insights from research with Glasgow Life, she’ll dive into how values like joy, connection and confidence can help us tell a richer story of social value, inclusion and well-being.

A new piece of research from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) looks at a variety of digital tools - including volunteer management solutions like TeamKinetic - and how they support volunteering.

Key Takeaways for TeamKinetic:

⚙️ Supporting Recruitment Through Integrations:
We are one of the only platforms found to support the integration of third-party platforms. One example of this includes our work with DoiT for the Big Help Out and beyond.

👍 Volunteer Feedback, Incentives and Rewards:
We were seen as an innovator in this area - our partnership with Tempo Time Credits, links to post-opportunity surveys, and custom reward badges are seen as breakthrough features.

🔓 Unlocking the Potential of Other New Technologies:
The report highlights our work with Braw Data to look at predictive analytics on volunteer behaviour, such as dropouts.

🤝 Interoperability:
We're currently working with the Open Data Institute (alongside other partners) to develop an open data standard for volunteering. By fostering an open ecosystem, we aim to drive innovation, boost adoption in the VCSE sector, and make it easier for volunteers and organisations to connect.

💭 Expanding Further:
We're also expanding integration with popular platforms like Alexa, Google, and WhatsApp. This meets volunteers where they are, rather than creating new apps.

By now you've probably heard about the Digital in Volunteering Toolkit, but will it really have an impact?

At a recent launch event for the Toolkit, we brought together a panel of speakers, including NAVCA's Maddy Desforges. She delved into how the toolkit can help volunteer leaders embrace digital.

As 2024 wraps up, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an incredible year of growth, connection, and innovation. It’s been a whirlwind, and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing community of volunteer managers, organisations, and, of course, the volunteers themselves!

Here are some of our highlights:

We kicked off the year with our Tempo Time Credits integration and a huge refresh of the TeamKinetic app. These were just a few things we did to connect the sector and make volunteering easier for everyone.

Our conference in September brought volunteer managers and experts together for a day of big ideas and practical tips. Missed it? The recordings are ready for you: https://teamkinetic.co.uk/conference?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social

We also launched the Digital in Volunteering Toolkit this month. It's something that had been in the works for a loooong time! It's the new go-to resource for managing volunteers in the digital age.

This year wasn’t just about features and events, it was about supporting the sector and tackling challenges together.

Here’s to 2025! 🎉

The Digital in Volunteering Toolkit launches next week. But what is it?

In response to the rapid pace of tech change, we have developed the Digital in Volunteering Toolkit alongside Gethyn Williams, and the AVM.

The toolkit will help Volunteer Leaders adopt the digital tools and strategies that fit their unique needs, on their own terms.

Do you feel:

- ‘Stuck in Excel’ but unsure how to break out of spreadsheet management?
- Pressure to adopt new digital tools just to avoid FOMO?
- Bamboozled by a range of choices or technical options?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Toolkit is for you.

So, join us at the online launch on Thursday 5th December. You can pick up tickets for free via the AVM's website:

Are you managing volunteers in a complex organisation?

It can feel like a big challenge, but there are ways to make it work!

In our latest blog, we take a look back at Dr Helen Timbrell's session from our conference. She provides some practical strategies to help your volunteers thrive, even in the most complicated structures.

She even includes an amazing metaphor, comparing volunteer managers to Taylor Swift...
