No one starts a business thinking…

“I’d really like more responsibility, less sleep and for absolutely everything to become my problem.” 😂

We start them for freedom.

Then somewhere along the way, the business grows, the team grows, the customers grow…

And so does the list of things that apparently only YOU can deal with.

If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

👉 Follow me if your business still depends on you more than it should.

Harriet Beveridge. Co-author of *Will It Make the Boat Go Faster?* Business coach, keynote speaker, standup comedian.

Her question, borrowed from the 2000 Olympic rowing crew: *"Will it make the boat go faster?"*

Every meeting. Every report. Every marketing tactic. If the answer's no, cut it.

That's the bullsh*t filter for the founder bottleneck.

Anyone else have this condition 🤣🤦‍♀️
Or is it just me?
Please tell me I’m not alone!

Danny McFarlane. 30 years as a financial planner to the ultra-wealthy.

The line that hit hardest: *"The fastest way to speed up is to stop."*

Two or three times a year he goes off radar for a few days. Phone off. Notebook. One question: what am I not doing that I used to do that got me here?

That's the discipline behind everyone who scales past themselves. And the reason you're the bottleneck — you stopped stopping.

The world lost an absolute icon yesterday. 💔

Dolly Parton was funny, wise, brilliantly successful and seemed to have a way of saying something incredibly profound without making it complicated.

And this is one of those things.

We spend so much of our lives worrying about what might happen.

In business especially, we worry about the problems, the people, the decisions, the money and everything that could possibly go wrong.

Sometimes we need to stop worrying about the bees and enjoy some of the honey. 🍯

Rest in peace, Dolly. ❤️

I think the world will be quoting your wisdom for a very long time.

Or are you juggling all four? 😂

Comment QUIZ to find out

Running a business can be incredibly rewarding.

It can also be bloody hard.

The pressure. The decisions. The people. The problems. The feeling that somehow everything still comes back to you.

And when that happens, there’s a good chance you’ve become the bottleneck in your own business.

You might be the Firefighter, the Fixer, the Overstretcher or the Controller — or, if you’re really having fun, a bit of all four. 😂

The problem is, you can’t grow a business that needs you involved in everything.

So I created a free Business Bottleneck Quiz to help you work out where YOU are getting stuck and what needs to change.

👇 Comment QUIZ and I’ll send it to you.
