🧡Recently I had the pleasure of speaking to the staff at a local school on Women’s Health and Perimenopause/Menopause in particular. This workshop covered much of the basics around hormonal disruption, symptoms etc, whilst a majority of the information delivered concentrated on lifestyle changes, dietary considerations, vitamin and mineral supplements, healing herbal remedies, and self-help techniques such as; breathing exercises for anxiety and panic attacks, acupressure for relief of a multitude of symptoms, the benefits and uses of aromatherapy, plus many other tips and tools that can be used effectively for helping yourself throughout this natural transition.

🧡I received some really good questions regarding diet, as many people were amazed at the need to pay more attention to certain foods and the effects, both positive and negative, they can have on hormonal balance, and mental and emotional health/wellbeing. This is an aspect which is very much overlooked and the enormous benefits that can be gained from a better understanding of the problematic food groups that need to be considered.

🤓Did you know that the liver carries out over 500 tasks daily and is vital to the body’s metabolic, immune system function, and detoxification? Which makes it one of the most important organs to pay attention to during hormonal change!

❓Did you know that 13th to 19th May is Mental Health Awareness Week

🧡Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health, and includes our emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing.

🧐It's very easy to jump on the bandwagon regarding this subject area and we appreciate that it is hard for businesses to cover everything. So here are 5 suggestions which you can implement today in your place of work that will actually make a difference.

▪Create a workplace culture where people can speak about mental health concerns without fear or judgement.

▪Set aside some time each week, or month for small group/departmental ‘Time to talk’ sessions.

▪Encourage people to be more aware of their mental state and reflect upon what factors in the workplace affect it.

▪Look at workplace adjustments such as flexible hours, change of workspace, provision of quiet rooms, providing lunchtime activities e.g. meditation or mindfulness sessions.

▪Look at providing extra support through training, coaching or mentoring or 121 supervision sessions.

🧡We provide a range of workshops, individual support sessions, or on-site wellbeing activities to help you support your staff.

🧡Did you know that April is Stress Awareness Month?!

📊Here are some statistics which illustrate the impact of stress on the UK workforce. But remember, these are just the ones that get reported…

▪The total number of workers suffering from work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2022/23 was 875,000.
▪The total number of working days lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2022/23 was 17.1 million days.
▪The main work factors cited by respondents as causing work-related stress, depression or anxiety were workload pressures (including tight deadlines and too much responsibility) and a lack of managerial support.
▪In 2022/23, stress, depression or anxiety accounted for 49% of all work-related ill health and 54% of all working days lost due to work-related ill health.

😟By top-level industry, stress, depression or anxiety is most prevalent in: Human health and social work activities

🤓Stress is a natural physical and mental reaction to life experiences and can be beneficial to your health, but when stress levels stay elevated for longer than is necessary it can take its toll, leading to chronic stress and the development of anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

😫Chronic stress creates health issues within the central nervous and endocrine systems, the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, as well as the digestive and muscular systems.

❓A question for you to ponder over the Easter Break... With regards to your health and wellbeing, what would you say is a priority?

🤔What your mind thinks?
Or
🤔What you actually ‘feel’ (your gut-instinct)?

These can be very different.

❓Are you inclined to go with what your mind thinks or how it works - formed from ideas, beliefs, and programming?

❓Or with what you actually feel - how your body responds physically with sensations, an ‘inner knowing’?

🧡Your health and wellbeing is very much determined by your mindset, and through being open to new ideas and concepts often helps us make valuable changes.

Looking forward to hearing what you ‘think’ or ‘feel’

Keep an eye out for some new events that we are currently cooking up in April/May...

🧡Whilst there is much media attention around Menopause, we should also be aware of other Women’s health issues, such as: Endometriosis.

🧡This month is National Endometriosis Awareness Month. In the UK, around 1.5 million women and those assigned female at birth are currently living with the condition, regardless of race or ethnicity. Endometriosis can affect you from puberty to menopause, although the impact may be felt for life.

▪ Endometriosis is the second most common gynaecological condition in the UK.
▪ 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth of reproductive age in the UK suffer from endometriosis.
▪ Endometriosis affects 1.5 million women and those assigned female at birth, a similar number of those affected by diabetes.
▪On average it takes 8 years from onset of symptoms to get a diagnosis. Endometriosis costs the UK economy £8.2 billion a year in treatment, loss of work and healthcare costs.
▪The cause of endometriosis is unknown and there is no definite cure, however, making lifestyle changes through diet, exercise and stress management can make a difference as to how this condition affects you.

🧡This is one of the conditions that we cover in our Women’s Health Workshops which can be run via zoom or in person… and can be just one or two hours in duration. We can also tailor a bespoke package to meet your needs and any individual concerns.
