Senior Ecologist

Joe has been an ecologist for 5 years, helping clients with their ecological needs, providing advice and producing robust reports.
He has a wealth of experience in protected species surveys including Great Crested Newts, Bats and Badgers. Joe holds a City and Guilds Award for Level 2 Tree Climbing and Rescue. In combination with his Level 2 bat licence, he enjoys assessing trees from ropes (and the ground) using endoscopic equipment.

As an ornithologist, Joe enjoys carrying out Barn Owl surveys, Breeding Bird, Nesting Bird and Wetland Bird surveys. In his spare time he is a ringer for the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO).

When not working, he enjoys walking, wild camping and wildlife photography.

Associate Ecologist

Simon has over 17 years’ experience in ecology consultancy and enjoys delivering high quality service to clients whilst identifying opportunities to benefit wildlife.

He has a broad range of project experience including habitat assessments, Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessment and Biodiversity Impact Assessment.

Simon’s expertise includes protected species surveys and mitigation design. He holds survey licences for white-clawed crayfish, GCN, barn owl and bats and is a Registered Consultant on the Natural England Bat Mitigation Class Licence.

Outside work Simon enjoys drumming and fishing (not at the same time).

Principal Ecologist

Mark has 35 years of professional experience which has involved work across several sectors related to ecology.

Initially Mark was employed by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, which involved surveys, management planning and habitat management on nature reserves.

From an early stage, Mark was responsible for adult training delivery in collaboration with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, before joining Brackenhurst Agricultural College (later Nottingham Trent University) and eventually becoming a full-time lecturer, delivering ecology-related modules to FE and HE students.

Mark still lectures to post-graduate students on a part-time basis.

In tandem with education, Mark started to carry out consultancy contracts in the mid-1990s and eventually became a full-time consultant ecologist in 2006, achieving Chartered Ecologist status in 2015.

When not working, Mark is the joint Nottinghamshire Recorder for the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Our team is back in the office today and we are starting 2023 as we mean to go on with a busy schedule of surveys and client updates.

And we're very excited to be putting the finishing touches to our brand new website - keep your eyes peeled for further updates and our official launch date!
