Good morning! Sorry for the radio silence it’s been a busy time here at Clayton Farm and Vineyard! We’ve been lambing. We have also planted a new vineyard! New life and new vines on the farm. All in all a busy spring ☀️

On Friday we finished the bulk of our pruning! With only 150 trial plot vines to complete. The last couple of months have been very busy 14500 vines pruned! We celebrated finishing with a beautiful glass of ChapelDown Sparkling Bacchus looking forward to having our own to try!

A stunning Evening yesterday!
The sheep are grazing off the remainder of the mustard that was used to improve soil structure on the site of our new vineyard! Also grazing the uncropped areas around the perimeter of the field or “headlands” so don’t worry there is plenty of food for them! The debris from the mustard will soon be topped (like a big mower) to break up the big chunks and then ready to be incoperated like a mulch into the soil improving soil organic matter and fertility. The sheep are also adding to the soil fertility with thier waste so it’s a win win!
