This is a design that I had created earlier this year for Chester Cathedral. The Cathedral had sent out an invitation to tender last year. The Dean and Chapter were looking for a new stained glass window for their newly acquired large Victorian building on the corner of Chester Cathedral estate. There is a niche above the front door, where they plan to have a stained glass window that would be back lit with LED lighting. The brief was very open in terms of approach, the design should represent the spiritual purpose of the Cathedral, to help establish a confident church presence in the city centre; contemporary, invitational, inspirational, and eye catching. With all this in mind, this is what I came up with. Later, I learned that my design had been shortlisted to 1 of 4 artists. Sadly, on this occasion, my design wasn't chosen. However, I am very grateful to have been shortlisted for the tender.
