There wouldn’t be many brewers or indeed beer drinkers that haven’t been inspired or affected by Rob Jones whether they know who he was or not. I only ever met him once many years ago but traded with Dark Star on a regular basis.

He was a genuine top bloke and brought us such lovely beers as Hophead, APA and Festival, all of which could be found up and down the country at pubs and beer festivals.

He’ll be missed for sure, RIP Rob.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Rob Jones, one of the founders of Dark Star.

A pioneer of British brewing, Rob created the original Dark Star beer, laying the foundations for a legacy that continues today.

We were proud to celebrate Dark Star’s 30th anniversary with Rob in 2024, revisiting The Original and the beer that started it all.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone who knew him.

Our new 4.5% English Pale Ale brewed with Challenger and Harlequin hops from Charles Faram & Co Ltd and grown in Worcestershire.

Pale, bright, crisp and properly drinkable.

Modern English hop aroma without disappearing into full-on juice bomb territory.

Built for pubs.
Built for pints.
Built for people who still want flavour without needing a lie down afterwards.

Bank Holiday check in at the brewery to see how our new beer is performing. Healthiest yeast we’ve ever had here and this murky looking hop bomb is exactly as intended.

We’ve refined our process and you can try this one on June 12th both at tap room and Piggy Bank.

We love brewing our core beers like the Covert we brewed on Tuesday but the real fun is experimenting with new ingredients and processes for something new.
