Our team in continue their fantastic work engaging with people who have recently used local maternity and neonatal services. Through listening to their experiences and feedback, they make sure people’s opinions are at the heart of shaping local services.

In our latest 15 Steps report, we evaluated Derriford Hospital's maternity setting in Plymouth from the perspective of service users.
"In the past 12 months, the hospital has really enhanced its focus on listening to women, pregnant people and families and this is demonstrated in some clear improvements that have been made. By listening to the people who use the services, we can really make a positive impact." Read more https://bit.ly/4enUylK

Our Healthwatch Dorset team continue to reach out and highlight the voices of our diverse communities across Dorset.

The more people share their ideas, experiences and concerns about the NHS and social care, the better services can understand what works and what doesn't.

For Tourette's Awareness Month (15 May-15 June 2026), we spoke to Katie who shared her personal experience of living with Tourette Syndrome and why increasing awareness matters.

“People think the vocal tics are what I’m thinking, and that is not true.”
