📢 We’re recruiting a Farm Business Consultant (Wales-based)

The Andersons Centre is expanding our consultancy team and we are looking for someone to work directly with farmers across Wales.

This role is open to established, developing or trainee consultants who want to deliver practical financial, strategic and technical advice to farm businesses, with an initial focus on the red meat sector and scope to grow across other sectors.

If you have strong numeracy and business skills, practical farming experience and the drive to help farm businesses succeed, we would love to hear from you.

We are pleased to announce that Amy Elizabeth Barnacle has joined The Andersons Centre as an Environmental Business Consultant. Amy is from Leicestershire and has a background rooted in the farming sector. She studied at Harper Adams University, where she completed a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Land Management (2020–2024), followed by a Master’s degree in Agroecology. Defra have recently published a major study, led by The Andersons Centre, on quantifying the costs of non-tariff measures (NTMs) on GB to EU trade in agri-food, plant and fisheries products. This landmark study provides the most comprehensive assessment to date of the ad valorem equivalent (AVE) costs of non-tariff measures now faced by British (GB) agri-food, horticultural plants and fisheries exporters when trading with the EU.

The Welsh Government has published details of the Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS) which commences on 1st January 2026. The SFS is replacing the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) in Wales and, from 2026, farmers will have the choice to either enter the SFS or remain with the BPS. The BPS will be phased out by 2029.
