As we kick off Apprenticeship Week across the nation, we wanted to spotlight Stephen!

Stephen has worked in ELITE Paper Solutions for several years and is a well-established and capable member of staff. Stephen’s role is as a Driver's Mate, he plays a key role in collecting confidential waste from customers. Stephen is currently in the process of completing a Supported Shared Apprenticeship and has made great strides in completing his work to a high standard, helping him focus on the long-lasting knowledge and confidence the apprenticeship will give him.

This week we’re saying a fond farewell to our founder and chief executive, Andrea Wayman, who is retiring after 30 years of supporting disabled people into paid employment in Wales.

Andrea has been instrumental in helping more than 20,000 disabled people and individuals with barriers to work to access and sustain meaningful employment.
We’ll miss having Andrea as part of the team, but hope she has a well-earned rest!

Ethan joined ELITE four years ago through the government’s Kickstart scheme, designed to support young people into employment during the pandemic. Since then, he’s become an indispensable part of our team.

Starting with the Finance team, Ethan quickly made his mark with his exceptional customer support skills and calm, can-do attitude while completing a Level 3 AAT Diploma in accounting.
Ethan now provides frontline support at ELITE Paper Solutions - he’s taken on even more responsibility, managing our delivery routes and ensuring our vans are always in the right place at the right time—keeping our operations running smoothly.

And when he’s not keeping our logistics on track or crunching numbers, Ethan’s green thumbs are hard at work. A passionate gardener, he tends his own allotment—making him not just part of a green business, but a green lifestyle too!

ELITE Paper Solutions is proud to celebrate the achievements of two exceptional volunteers, Ryan and Tom, who were honoured at the Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil (VAMT) Awards for their dedication, impact, and personal growth through volunteering.

Ryan received the Adult Volunteer of the Year (26+) award in recognition of his unwavering commitment and positive influence. Ryan’s reliability, kindness, and willingness to support others have made a lasting impression on everyone around him.

Tom was awarded Outstanding Achievement for his remarkable contributions over the past eighty years. Tom arrives with a beaming smile, ready to check in on everyone and spread positivity. He’s second to none in supporting the team as they maintain a clean and safe workspace.

Both Ryan and Tom show what volunteering is all about — making a difference, growing as individuals, and supporting others along the way.

We’re celebrating Employability Day 2025 by shining a light on our Recycling Operative, Rhys who’s recently completed a Warehousing Apprenticeship at ELITE Paper Solutions.

The apprenticeship programme is delivered in partnership with Cambrian Training, and is designed to support disabled people by offering tailored training, one-to-one support, and meaningful work experience that leads to long-term employment.

Reflecting on his journey, Rhys said: “The job has helped me get out of the house as I didn't leave much before, so it's helped my confidence, experience, improve my skills and gain new skills, make new friends, and speak to new people. I sometimes struggled to talk to new people - it has helped me come out of my shell.”

ELITE Paper Solutions is the first stage of our participants and volunteers' journey to training, volunteering and sustained paid employment. We're extremely proud of our fully inclusive workplace – which supports approximately 80 people per week through a range of range of employment, training and volunteering opportunities.
