Who says running a small business is stressful? Doing all the product research, making your product or putting together your service to sell, advertising, distribution, customer service...and then there's the admin and accounts 😲 oh, and days off are a thing of the past foe the most part!

But...there are plenty of plus points, the biggest being that you get to do something you are passionate about every day!

If you're anything like me you like to jump in full throttle when you have an idea, with a rough plan in mind but you'll figure the details out as you go - basically just wing it 😂

Not surprisingly that doesn't work well for business, so here are my top tips for things to consider before you go for it -

What problem does your product or service solve? Who will want to purchase it and where do they spend their time - there is no point running a marketing campaign on Facebook if your customers aren't social media users!

What competitors will you have? Is the market in your area saturated, do you need to find your own niche to be unique?

Set some goals - a mix of smaller ones that can be achieved in a short amount of time, and big ones that give you something to aim for and work towards!!

Have a clear why - running a business is hard, and if you're a one man band you'll be doing all roles and it can feel never ending, your why will help you keep going through the tougher times :)

My most important tip is to believe in yourself, and give it a go!!

What is The Purple Place?

I have lots of plans for what it will become, but some of these will take time so initially it is a place where I will offer my services such as admin support and bookkeeping, and I'll shortly be adding a group to offer support to small business owners

Next year I'll be adding training and mentoring, both by myself and by some of the amazing experts I've got to know through networking both locally and online.

There will be networking opportunities to help you make connections with other like minded business owners - again both locally and online

The big long term aim is to offer a program of support to women in domestic abuse situations, who need financial independence and stability to get them out!

This is just a brief snapshot of my plans, I'm sure of these will evolve and knowing me plenty of new ideas will be added 😂 the one thing that will stay the same is that I'm passionate about helping small businesses get started, expand and keep going!!
