Everyday Change

Everyday Change Everyday Change is not-quite a consultancy. Why? And the best bit? It’s all about you.

Because it has all the talent and none of the fuss, with an open optimism that your experiences of change can be positive and focussed on being better.

n September, I set myself a challenge to write down everything I knew and wished I'd known about change in a way that was useful, optimistic about our change experiences and affordable. And we are almost there.

You won’t find:

🥴Pages of people telling you that it was a great read, because that won’t make your change better.
🤯Heavy theory that will need either booze or google translate, because that won’t make your change easier.
🏆Stories of adversity and triumph, because knowing I escaped the jaws of a lion will not help you deliver for your people.

You will find:

👍Tangible, instantly usable ways to improve your change
🥰Insight and ideas that want you and your people to succeed
😍An open optimism that change can be good
💌 A whole lot of care for what you are about to do and for being brave enough to do it.

And that makes me happy. It’s the book I have always wanted to write.

And I've kept my promise, it's going to be a tenner. And you can buy it...now.

Great communication won't deliver your change, but terrible comms are likely to sink it.

Here's our top run down for getting change comms right:

1. Be normal - and don’t lie. Grand statements, branded change, fancy titles, inspiring quotes make your average person call bull s**t. So communicate like you, an actual real life recognisable human.

2. Keep turning up - when change is *announced* a void is created and will continue to exist from the last time you spoke to where your people are now. So start talking, reinforce messaging or share next steps. Do not drown in silence.

3. It is not about you. So don't talk about you. During bad times might be 'really hard for you' but imagine how that feels to be the one on the receiving end? Start with your people, talk to your people, end with your people.

4. Shut up....so you can listen to what you are being told. You might not like it, but you can accept it, respect it and suck it up.

We go again.

On the 10th November we open up our doors* to our next workshop.

It is for you if..

👍You're leading or working in change
👍You want to get closer to the problem in hand without upsetting the apple cart or drowning in politics
👍You'd like to support others in having a positive change experience
👍You're open to being challenged, learning new things and opening up your change to be better
👍You like a good lunch

*metaphorical, we don't actually own doors

Podcasting* with Jac Hughes I made the public statement that my second book was coming and then I told Lisa Slater and now I have been exposed to enough peer pressure to finish it.

This one is slightly different from my first. It's...

❤ all about change (sorry if you were expecting something else)
🤓 based on everything I know, do, teach and share
🤑 going to be self published so it can be available at a price point for those interested in or adventuring into change
💃 written for every rough change diamond with a fire in their belly to do differently or get out alive

The main problems are; it's not finished and my working title has been vetoed 🤷‍♀️

Oooh but if it makes me as instantly famous as my last one, you'll find me working from my yacht.

Progress over perfection.

No such thing as an overnight success.

The *best* change is steady, incremental and understood. And it gives the best results when you and your people make progress. It brings your people together when enough, is good enough.

Chasing perfect change is pointless. Chasing brilliant change that meets your needs and feels great. Well, that sounds better.

If you want to talk to me about making progress over perfection, then step into my office.

November sees our next workshop and we'd love to see you there.

The Everyday Change workshop brings together individuals, organisations and expert talent to re-shape how we look at, respond to and deliver change.

Everything we do is about improving how we deliver change within our organisations and translating that into measurable and tangible day-to-day impacts on what you do and how you work.

If you're leading, managing or landing change we have something for you.

A quick insight into our Workshop, enabling you to change your world.

I don't often share feedback. Not by design, I'm still learning to use it wisely. But this has made my week. 12 Weeks ago I ran the Everyday Change Workshop for a change team of 15 who were knee deep in a change they had lost control of (and were pretty miserable because of it)
--
You challenged us to understand and evidence the impact that our time together at the workshop had - here are our top wins for me, the team and the organisation:

Organisation Wins
👍Attendance at our change show cases has increased by 40% (reason being message, purpose and intent were clearer.)
🙌We have completed and agreed impact assessments for over 80% or impacted teams and processes. When we turned up the workshop, we didn't even know how to get started.

Team Wins
❤️Action learning sets were established and we are on 100% attendance for 6/6. Each one answers a real problem and moves us on.
🤣When we hit bumps, don't know how to have a conversation, or feel a bit s**tty - we ask WWSD? (If you can't work that out, its What Would Susie Do?) and revert to the playbook or follow up notes to help us move through. And we do move on, quickly.

My Wins (I've only got one, but its pretty magnificent)
⭐I'm not scared to lead the change. I am absolutely the right person for this challenge and for my team. Thank you. ⭐

The Everyday Workshop is a unique learning opportunity that brings together individuals, organisations and expert talent to re-shape how we look at, respond to and deliver change.

With a primary focus on how we deliver change within our organisations, this workshop is the ultimate sandpit for generating innovative ideas, learning and having day-to-day impact on what we do and how we work.

When I set off on my own, I set my mind to being poised and savvy, sassy, but still classy (you know the drill) 😉

Making sensible decisions, winning all the things I wanted, being the eternal consultant nomad, never returning to where I'd been before.

And, well it was just a massive lie, to myself. Now don't get me wrong I absolutely never want to outstay my welcome, or stop adding value. But I love going back, I love hanging out, I love seeing what's happened and I love that you want me back, even if it’s just for a beer.

And as for poised and savvy, I'm defo more comfortable swinging into your world on the back of a wrecking ball.

Choose and follow your own path. It’s pretty smashing.

And if you think we could work together, slide into my DMs. I promise* to leave my wrecking ball at home.

*this is not strictly true as I usually travel by bike, or ball.

Everyday Change started because we knew that there had to be a better way.

Mates and colleagues who had enough stories and experience to help others with facing into change with both softness and strength.

A better way to change that was easier than what we had experienced.

And that’s what we do; we champion an easier and more sustainable way to get the job done.

And we love doing it, winning alongside you and enabling you to change your world.
