Do you have any Windows 10 computers in your business?

🗓️ They’re reaching end of life in October 2025.

That means no more updates, including security patches, bug fixes, and feature enhancements. If you do have any Windows 10 devices, your business’s data will be at risk if you haven't done anything by that date.

You have four options:

1️⃣ Pretend it’s not happening
2️⃣ Upgrade to Windows 11
3️⃣ Invest in new devices
4️⃣ Pay for security updates (and extend Windows 10)

So, if you have any Windows 10 devices, now’s the time to carefully weigh up each one and decide which is the right choice for your business.

If we can help talk it through with you, get in touch.

Do you have a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy?

With more employees using their personal devices for work, you need to understand the risks and how to keep your business safe.

BYOD can be great for flexibility but it comes with risks. Personal devices often lack the same protection as corporate ones.

1️⃣ Security is key. Personal devices need robust protection to keep your business data safe from cyber criminals.
2️⃣ Access control matters. Make sure only the right people can get to sensitive info.
3️⃣ Keep work and play separate. Mixing personal and work data? Big no-no! This can lead to privacy issues and compliance breaches.
4️⃣ Think long-term. While BYOD might save money now, potential security breaches could cost you big time later outweighing the savings. Investing in secure, company-managed devices might save money in the long run.

BYOD can work, but you need a solid policy and security measures in place.

"Ever heard of Smishing? It's a type of cyber attack that could affect you and your business.

Smishing is like phishing (where you get a message that seems to be from a person or brand you trust) but it happens through text messages. Cyber criminals send fake texts to trick you into giving away personal or financial information.

You receive a text that looks legit, maybe pretending to be from your bank. It asks you to click a link or provide sensitive info. If you do, you might end up downloading malware or visiting a fake website that steals your data. These texts often play on emotions or urgency, like claiming there's an issue with your bank account that needs immediate attention.

Why is this a big deal? As more people use their personal phones for work, smishing can easily target businesses. Imagine a scammer getting hold of your company's sensitive data or funds. Scary, right? It can lead to financial loss and compromised company information, which could hurt your business's reputation and operations.

To avoid falling victim, stay sceptical of unexpected texts asking for personal or financial info. If you get such a message, don't click on any links unless you're 100% sure it's safe. Instead, verify the information by contacting the supposed sender directly through a known number or email - not the one provided in the message.

We can help you stay safe and informed with a security audit.

Have you heard the news? WhatsApp has rolled out a new update for Windows 11 (and 10), bringing some
features that make it more adaptable and user-friendly on your desktop.

The update allows you to hide the contacts list, giving the chat window full screen when needed, making reading and replying to messages a breeze, especially when you're juggling multiple tasks,

👉 But here's the thing: These are great for personal use but WhatsApp isn't the ideal tool for all your business communication, especially when dealing with sensitive information.

❌ WhatsApp isn’t built for the specific needs or data protection standards required in many industries. It's features are great for quick chats but lack the controls and integrations that business-specific platforms offer.

If you're handling sensitive data or need more robust communication tools, consider switching to a platform like Microsoft Teams. It's designed with business security and productivity in mind, offering features like larger group meetings, file storage, and more detailed user permissions.

What do you use for internal communication in your business right now?

No more copy and sending URLs to yourself to use them on other devices.

📱Windows 11 is testing a feature in its Share menu that allows you to generate QR codes for URLs and files right from your desktop.

It could make sharing files and links between devices even easier. Just scan a QR code with your phone, and you're good to go!

This feature will be especially handy for those of us who are always on the move. Whether you're rushing between meetings or managing business from different locations, this quick share option can save you time and hassle.

It's still in the testing phase for now, but keep an eye out for updates.

💬 Do you think QR codes will make sharing (and saving) links easier for you?
