5 lessons, 5 years in, being an actual business owner!

🤍I’d like to say it’s been a breeze but we all know that wouldn’t be true.

Here’s my lessons learnt and still learning. I’d love to know if any resonate.

🤎There will always be something to do (and you don’t have to do it all)

🖤Planning is good, same goes for doing. (I’m an EXPERT in planning and get so caught up in striving for just right, perfection even,guess what happens- yep! It’s stays in my head!). This is a lesson still being learnt.

🤎 Celebrate every win, write it down, record it and share it. Good for you!

🖤 Get outside a lot. From years of working in a corporate agency where your supposed commitment was measured by how many hours you were at your desk for, this has been a tricky lesson to sack off. The benefits are huge, immense. Do it, if not for improving your performance (which incidentally it will) but for your sanity, your pleasure, the joy in experiencing all of the seasons.

🤎Build you shaped goals. Trust yourself, make them feel good. This is your life.

PSA over now! It’s been a great day, collected amazing birthday balloons from , had team FG’s monthly meeting, in person with Becs and over Teams with the rest of the dream team! 💎. We made a placement and got incredible feedback for 2 candidates placed with different clients who have just hit their 3 month in the business.

"The only thing that is constant is change", said a now very dead Greek philosopher. Still true though.

As a business, that's been built on referrals, we have had to make some pretty big changes as to what and how we deliver.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The focus going forward is purely recruitment and talent solutions. Typically recruiting for scaling and growth focused businesses. Building honest and transparent relationships with our candidates.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over the past couple of months I've worked closely with (incredible Web Designer and nailed the brief 200%), Kiera, (specialist recruitment copywriter who was so tolerant but firm in my requests to always add more detail - firm no! 🤣) and Rebecca from (super creative Brand Designer on the brand refresh). The outcome is a shiny new website that I couldn't be happier and prouder with!

⛔️ I’ve learnt to say no

⛔️ I’ve not got time for the shoulds or coulds
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⛔️ I don’t have to do everything myself (I’m building a small but perfectly formed team!)

✅ I trust my decisions

✅ I’ve learnt to say yes (even to the scary things)

✅ I’m completely clear on my business, I’m in flow. ( ridiculously excitedly looking forward to showing you my shiny new website and brand refresh)

✅ I’m prioritising rest, fun and exercise which, guess what is making more effective in my job! Who’d have thought it?? (This has probably been the most challenging for me as a Capricorn workaholic!)

Not sure what has prompted quite a radical change, but I’m here for it.

Today we are 4! Happy Birthday Feather Grey!

🪶 A lot has changed since I began, many lessons learnt and 🎢 of big highs and then big curve balls (hello pandemic).

But I’ve hung on in, got really clear on my why and built a successful business built solely on referrals. This has meant that I’ve been able to invest, start to build a team with confidence. I’m very grateful to be working with some incredible people!

So, to celebrate! 🎉🍾🥂

My intention for the New Moon and the year ahead is ease.

Last night I attended a New Moon ceremony with .annaanderson and it was the most lovely, safe space.

We talked about intention and I loved the softness of the language that we used. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for goals and data driven decision making and they play a huge part of my business planning and activity.

However, I am beginning to realise that it doesn't have to feel hard, forced if you like. I'd love to know what your intention for Feb is? Let me know below x

I find that if I’m involved in tasks that I don’t particularly enjoy, I find them hard, they take way longer than they should. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
