WHS employee profile of the week:

Jade Harrison, Materials Controller.

·Started at the company 8 years ago as an evening shift operator
·Left to complete her Degree in Journalism at the University of Lincoln before starting again full time operating 3 years ago.
·Promoted to sales admin/estimator
·Jade is now a materials controller for a £3million customer.
·Completed Engel injection moulding training and sage 500 training.

So what does Jade do day to day?
Jade overseas the purchase of raw material, bought out parts (such as springs and washers) and packaging for one of our largest customers. She helps organise the distribution of products across the UK, Europe and America ensuring all customer delivery schedules are met. She also manages container shipments to and from our sister company in Egypt. Jade regularly liaises with both customers and suppliers helping reply to quotation request or any other queries.
Additionally, Jade writes our WHS weekly newsletter which is distributed to all our employees and updates our news bulletins on the webpage.

WHS employee profile of the week:

Lee Burgess, Mouldshop Technician.

•Started at the company 14 years ago at the age of 16 as a operator.
•Lee trained at WHS to become a machine setter.
•3 Promotions later Lee is a technician looking after machines that will produce over £6 million worth of parts a year.
•NVQ's in injection moulding and health safety
•Additional offsite Engel injection moulding training.

So what does Lee do day to day?
Lee looks after our injection moulding machines on B row, the row consists of 600ton and 800ton machines all with new 6 axis staubli robots. Lee's primary job is to setup and change what each machine makes depending upon a works schedule. Changing what a machine makes is known as a 'tool change'. Lee ensures these tool changes happen as efficiently as possible at the same time as maintaining tools and improving process conditions and quality where possible. Lee is mentor to our trainee setters helping them learn all there is to know about setting.
Lee also gets involved in introducing new work to the row and is often offsite inspecting future tools across Europe but sometimes even as far away as China.

WHS employee profile of the week:

Saima Javid, Business Project Manager.

- Joined WHS to complete an industrial placement in the IT department as part of her degree course 12 years ago.
- Started full time after completing her degree managing subcontract products then joined the purchasing department to deliver cost savings on our purchasing spend.
- Promoted to a project manager.
- Training received while at WHS includes:
o NVQ in Polymer processing and related operation (injection moulding)
o Graduate professional development award
o Green and Black Belt Six Sigma
o Prince 2 Foundation

So what does Saima do day to day?
Saima, is the Business Project Manager responsible for improvement projects, as per the business need. Some recent projects include; successful launch of our company website, managing the company name change and managing and implementing a full production system. The focus for 2015 is to deliver a wide array of improvements including; energy management with a target to achieve ISO50001 accreditation, Sage system upgrade with upgrades from Sage Line 500 to Sage Line 1000, Tool room management improvements to report accurate delivery performance and profitability for each tool made in the tool room and companywide Inventory review to improve stock accuracy and to help reduce inventory by £ 1million.
