I’m taking part in the official UK Small Business Week from 1st - 7th June.

As a small business owner myself, I know how much support, recommendations and word of mouth genuinely matter.

If you’d like to support a small business during the week, you can book with us, share our posts, recommend us, or simply tell someone about what we do.

Small businesses are the backbone of the economy, so during Small Business Week, shop small, shop local and support independents.

And if you’re another small business taking part in UK Small Business Week too, let’s connect

And just like that… it’s all memories.

A week in Lanzarote with family, sunshine, and slower days gone in a flash. Back on UK soil, straight into real life (and the washing pile).

Already planning the next one…

Yesterday felt like a Monday… on steroids.

Straight after a long busy Easter weekend.
Start of a new tax year.
Everything hit at once.

And now it’s Wednesday.

Another cake creation this weekend 🎂

My youngest turns 2 today, so a Minion cake was required.

This was a joint effort with Nanny in my adopted family kitchen.

Nanny baked.
I provided artistic direction and general assistance.

Meanwhile Dad and Grandad were “out of the way” watching sport while a certain little birthday boy ran rings round our ankles.

Nearly 6 months of staying with family while our house renovation continues (my own kitchen is still waiting to be ordered and fitted)… I may have developed a slight twitch from living out of other people’s cupboards.

But the birthday boy approves so we’ll call that a success 💛

Today is International Women’s Day.

I’m fortunate to know so many women who support others, build businesses, raise families, and make things happen every day, often without much recognition.

Today is a good moment to celebrate them.

Happy International Women’s Day.

What you probably don’t know about me…

I have five children. My eldest turns 18 this year, which still feels impossible to say out loud. So my life currently spans driving lessons, GCSEs, friendship highs and lows, university conversations… and negotiating snacks with a toddler.

I love fast food, fast cars and the colour red.

I consider leopard print a neutral and will happily buy pretty much anything in it.

I get a strange amount of satisfaction from making things organised and keeping everything running smoothly, which is probably why I built a business around it.

I work best with headphones and podcasts on shuffle. One minute Table Manners, the next it’s true crime. If you’re a client of mine, there’s a good chance your inbox was cleared while one of those was playing.

I’m a “look at the moon” person. Especially with my older children as a reminder that even when we’re apart, we’re still under the same sky.

And once I was lucky enough to be on an Instagram Live with Robbie Williams and he said something to me that stuck:

“Keep on keeping on.”

Some days there isn’t a perfect plan.

You just keep on keeping on.

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Today’s TED Talk: Trust the process.

It’s been a busy few days with clients, so I’ve been a little quieter on here.

While my clients are organised… my hair is still in negotiations after I decided to encourage it to embrace its newly discovered curl.

“Welcome to your mid-40s, Emma!”

At the moment the result is somewhere between hopeful waves and windswept scarecrow.

But it reminded me of something I often say to new clients.

When you first start working with a VA / Business Support Specialist there’s always a short adjustment period while we learn your systems and how your business runs.

Then suddenly everything clicks into place and things run far more smoothly.

So if I could offer you only one tip…

Trust the process.

And of course… wear sunscreen. ☀️

Not Welsh by birth. But Wales is my home.

It’s where I’m building my business.

You don’t need a big city postcode to build something solid. Just consistency and commitment.

Be honest. What do you regret about this month?

Don’t worry, I’m not trying to delve into personal lives (despite my love of tea) I’m talking about within your business.

It could be an invoice sent later than it should have been, a follow-up you meant to make and didn’t, numbers you didn’t review properly or a decision you delayed.

Most business regrets aren’t big mistakes. They’re small delays and as I’ve discussed previously delays will compound.

Here we listen and don’t judge: I’m curious what’s one business regret you’re correcting next month?

This is a safe space so I’ll go first in the comments.

(Yes, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I ended up in this situation… 🤣 Well, it’s staying with family, wrangling a whirlwind toddler, living through a house renovation and running a business. Aesthetically pleasing it is not, but authentic? Always.)
