We’re still in awe of the remarkable result achieved by this rare Boer War medal group, awarded to Private J. R. Venning for his service during the Second Boer War.

Originally estimated at just £100–£200, the group went on to sell for over £6,000 — more than 50 times its pre-sale estimate! 🤯

But the story gets even better…

The medals were purchased by descendants of Private Venning, meaning that after more than 100 years, they have finally returned to family ownership.

An incredible result with an even more special ending.

It just goes to show — you really never know what those forgotten treasures tucked away in your attic could be worth! 👀

What a fantastic Fine & Decorative Arts auction we had this week! one of the standout moments was lot 400 - Gabriel Loppe (French, 1825-1913), The Wetterhorn in Winter, seen from Grindelwald, which achieved an impressive £15,740 under the hammer!

Coming up in our 9th July Jewellery, Watches & Designer Goods Summer Sale is Lot 263 - a stainless steel analogue-digital Seiko H556-5050 bracelet watch.

Seiko watches were no strangers to the silver screen in the 1980s, appearing in iconic film including Commando, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future and several Bond movies.

This particular model made an appearance in James Cameron's Aliens. Presented in lovely condition and complete with its signed box, it's a fantastic piece for both Seiko collectors and film fans alike

We can't stop admiring this rare late Victorian 18ct gold scrolling band ring by Tiffany & Co.

This timeless piece is not only exceptional in craftsmanship but also holds a fascinating provenance. It was owned by Mrs Ella Annesley Voysey, the first wife of the renowned actor Robert Donat and the daughter of C.F.A. Voysey, a major architect and designer of the British Arts & Crafts movement. It truly is a special piece.
