What is HR?
Historically known as an ‘admin’ function, Human Resources is the management of the employee lifecycle; recruiting, onboarding, training, conduct, sickness absence, performance management and benefits.
Why do I need it?
One of the first questions you will be asked in the event of a dispute with an employee, is whether you have issued contracts and what policies you have in place. Many businesses believe in the ‘verbal contract’, which mostly leads to problems. It is also very difficult to enforce a policy that an employee has never seen (or heard of).
