Last week we had our face-to-face team meeting in the beautiful Tortworth House Business Centre – a gorgeous space.

We had a full packed agenda and the pleasure of welcoming Catherine Mitchell along for a fantastic legal update.

Time together as a team; face-to-face, to collaborate and knowledge share, they are the best days.

Hoping our clients had a lovely long weekend. Happy Tuesday everyone. 😊

In case you missed our Instagram stories last week… We are pleased to share that Sarah Makepeace is back working with the Rise HR team again.

Sarah has returned from an exciting period of exploring and travelling Asia… ask her about getting shipwrecked?! And swipe to see a picture taken on the top of Nam Xay viewpoint in Vang Vieng, Laos.

Sarah is straight back into supporting some large projects we are working on, and we are sure our clients will give her a warm welcome back too.

It’s great to have you in the team again, Sarah.

With the new tax year comes employment law updates and payroll changes. Here’s a quick checklist for business owners:

✔️Holiday entitlementIf your holiday year ends in March, check holiday allowance balances. If an employee has still got a lot of holiday left over, take time to talk to them and find out why and gently encourage them to use their leave more effectively in the next year. This ensures your team get the reset and breaks they need, and reduces the amount of carry-over and potential cost pressures this can have on the business.

✔️Annual Leave holiday records
From 6th April 2026 a very new (literally last week!) legal requirement has come into force as part of the Employment Rights Act 2025. Employers will now be required to keep adequate records to show holiday entitlement and holiday pay compliance, records will need to be kept for 6 years! The aim of this is to ensure that employers can prove that they have complied with annual leave regulations.
If you don’t have a process in place, or are using spreadsheets or paper calendars – now is the time to review your internal process and ensure records are kept!

✔️Minimum Wage increasesTake the time to ensure you're prepared and have incorporated the changes for the April minimum wage increases.

✔️Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) changesFollowing from a previous post of ours - check you're ready for updates to SSP – making sure your policies and payroll systems are aligned.

A quick review now can help avoid payroll issues and unexpected costs in the new tax year.

We’re busy behind the scenes working closely with our retainer clients preparing for the Employment Rights Bill changes for your policies and contracts, if you have any questions or would like support – please get in touch: [email protected]

Are you a small business and unsure if you need additional HR Support? Are you debating recruiting someone internally or outsourcing your HR needs?

Managing people can be one of the most rewarding (and challenging) parts of running a business. For many small and medium-sized organisations, hiring a full-time HR Manager isn’t financially feasible or practical. But that doesn’t mean you need to go without HR support. That’s where the team at Rise HR can step in and make a real difference.

Rise HR gives SME’s access to expert HR support. We pride ourselves in taking the time to get to know your business, your culture and the industry you work in.
We can support all your people needs from performance management and recruitment support to organisational change, employee engagement and workplace wellbeing. Outsourcing HR helps organisations handle people challenges with confidence.

Providing business owners with peace of mind – knowing you have trusted people partners available if any complex issues arise. We’re there when you need us.

If you're a growing business and feeling the pressure of managing HR alone, maybe this is nudge you need to reach out. Get in touch with us to find out how we might be able to support you, or have a read of our recent blog post, under the HR Knowhow section on our website.

Last week we had our Feb team meeting. It involved a fun team game of werewolf (similar to The Traitors) and early birthday celebrations for Becky M and Helen!

Plus, lots of other insightful learnings shared, discussed and important planning for the upcoming ERB changes (keep an eye on your inbox clients).

We are a growing team and these face-to-face meetings always prove powerful to connect and collaborate.
