We’ve just completed something a bit special in the workshop… 👀

An iconic Japanese classic came in for our full Show & Shine Treatment — and with a car like this, we went the extra mile to make sure the underside received the finish it deserved. 💎🔧

This wasn’t just a quick clean-up and coat of paint. The aim was to properly restore, protect and transform the underside while keeping the finish in keeping with the standard of the car.

🛠️ The treatment included:

🔹 Extensive strip-down of the underside
🔹 Years of corrosion, old coatings and contamination removed
🔹 Media/laser cleaning back to a solid prepared surface
🔹 Hard-to-reach areas treated properly rather than simply coated over
🔹 High-grade epoxy corrosion protection
🔹 Rubberised protective coating where required
🔹 Underbody finished to complement the vehicle’s original colour
🔹 High-grade lacquer applied over the vehicle’s colour to give it a deep, glossy finish
🔹 Suspension, subframes, brackets and components refinished in a tough high-gloss black
🔹 Cavities and hidden sections thoroughly wax protected
🔹 Fixings and smaller components cleaned and refinished

Another Toyota RAV4 through the workshop for our full Durability Package 🛡️🔧

The RAV4 might be known for reliability, but Scottish roads, winter salt, moisture and years of road grime can still take their toll underneath. Our treatment is designed to remove existing corrosion, protect the metal and massively improve the long-term durability of the underside. 💪

🔧 What did we do?

✅ Removed undertrays, guards and necessary components for full access
✅ Dropped and protected wiring and vulnerable components
✅ Thoroughly cleaned and prepared the underside
✅ Media/shot blasted corrosion back to solid metal where required
✅ Treated remaining hard-to-access corrosion

✅ Applied a rubberised underbody coating for added impact, stone-chip and road protection

These Discoverys are fantastic vehicles, but age, Scottish weather, moisture and road salt can take their toll underneath. Our package is designed to strip everything back, deal with existing corrosion and give the underside a proper long-term protective system. 🛡️

This one was finished using our black underbody sealant, giving it a clean factory-style appearance while adding another tough protective layer against water, road salt, stone chips and everyday road grime. 🖤👌

🔧 WHAT WE DO:

• Protect sensitive hybrid components, wiring and electrical systems during preparation

• Allow the epoxy to properly cure before applying additional coatings

Another Defender 110 through the doors at Highland Laser Blasting, this time receiving our full Durability Package to help protect it against everything the Scottish roads, weather and winters can throw at it. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌧️❄️🧂

Defenders are built to work, explore and take abuse — but unfortunately, the underside still needs proper protection if you want to keep corrosion under control for the years ahead. 💪

This one was treated from the ground up, with particular attention paid to removing corrosion and creating a strong, long-lasting protective system.

🔧 WHAT WE CARRIED OUT:

✅ Undertrays, guards, plastics and heat shields removed where required.

✅ Underside fully inspected before preparation began.

✅ Corrosion, loose coatings and failing material removed back to clean, solid metal using our blasting processes.

✅ Difficult areas thoroughly cleaned and prepared to give the coatings the best possible surface to bond to.

✅ Anti-corrosion epoxy primer system applied to protect the steelwork and create the foundation for the final coatings.

✅ Chassis, axles, suspension components and associated steelwork protected with a tough, durable black finish. 🖤

✅ For this Defender, we went with a black protective sealant across the body/underfloor sections, giving it a proper rugged OEM+ appearance while adding another heavy layer of protection against water, mud, salt and road grime.

✅ Enclosed sections, chassis rails and cavities treated with corrosion-protection wax to help protect areas you simply can't see from the outside.

✅ Components carefully reassembled once the coating system had cured.

💦✨ WET BLASTING – BRINGING ALUMINIUM BACK TO LIFE! ✨💦

Another great example of exactly what wet blasting can achieve on aluminium. 👌

This intake came to us with a pretty shabby paint job that had seen better days. The customer wanted all the old coating removed and the aluminium taken right back to a clean, natural finish.

💦 For aluminium, wet blasting is one of our favourite methods.

Using a controlled mix of media and water allows us to strip away old paint, staining, oxidation and contamination while being much gentler on the underlying aluminium than aggressive dry blasting methods.

The result? 👇

✅ Old paint completely removed
✅ Aluminium cleaned back evenly
✅ Smooth, consistent surface finish
✅ No harsh or aggressive blasted appearance
✅ Gets into awkward shapes and hard-to-reach areas

This Toyota Hilux has spent its working life in the forestry industry, so the underside had taken a fair amount of punishment from mud, water, stones and harsh working conditions.

With visible wear and corrosion starting to take hold, it was time to give this hard-working Hilux the protection it deserves. 💪

Our Durability Package included:

To match the standard of the build, we stepped things up with our coating system.
