🔥 Argocat Fire Department Trailer Restoration 🔥

This one was a bit different from the usual jobs! 👌

Here we have an Argocat trailer that originally served with the Fire Department many years ago. This project was completed for our good mate Sandy Robb at ROBB TREE CARE LTD🌲🚜

Over the years, the trailer had suffered from rust, corrosion, and failing paintwork. To bring it back to life, we started by media blasting the entire trailer, removing years of rust, old paint, and contamination back to clean steel. 💪

Once fully prepared, we applied a rust-proofing epoxy primer which chemically bonds to the steel, creating a strong barrier against future corrosion and providing the perfect foundation for the topcoat. 🛡️

To finish the job, we applied 3 coats of a 2-pack offshore-grade coating system, designed to withstand some of the harshest environments and provide long-lasting protection. 🌊⚓

Both the epoxy primer and topcoat system were then baked and force cured at 32°C for 24 hours, ensuring maximum hardness, durability, and adhesion before leaving the workshop. 🔥

The end result is a trailer that's not only looking the part again but is protected for many years to come. 👌

We're always looking at ways to improve our processes and achieve even better results for our customers. Recently, we've been testing a new chemical/acid cleaning solution to reduce the amount of laser cleaning required on certain jobs.

This heavily oxidised exhaust system was the perfect candidate! Years of oil staining, heat marks, oxidation, and corrosion had left it looking tired and worn out. After treatment with our new cleaning process, the results were incredible — bringing the metal back to a bright, clean finish while preserving the integrity of the material.

🔥Mazda MX-5 for our Full Durability Package 🔥

This little MX-5 came in needing some serious TLC underneath, so we gave it the full Highland Laser Blasting treatment 💪

✅ Full media blast back to solid steel
Removing years of corrosion, grease, grime, and old failing coatings to expose clean bare metal.

✅ Rubberised grey underbody coating
Applied to the body of the vehicle to give it that fresh MOT-friendly 2-tone finish while adding extra protection against road debris and stone chips.

✅ Rust-inhibiting black coating
All subframes, suspension components, and underbody parts were coated in a tough rust-resistant black paint for long-lasting durability and a factory-fresh appearance.

✅ Internal cavity protection
Anti-corrosion wax applied deep inside all cavities and box sections to help stop rust from starting from the inside out.

✅ Dinitrol clear wax finish
The entire underside was then sealed with Dinitrol clear wax, creating a highly hydrophobic protective layer that helps stop water, salt, and road grime sticking to the paintwork 💧

A clean, protected underside ready to handle the harsh Scottish roads for years to come.

🔥 Another busy few days here at Highland Laser Blasting with a wide range of parts coming through the workshop in between our full underbody restoration projects! 🔥

From performance car parts to off-road equipment and custom fabrication work, we love bringing tired, corroded metal back to life 💪

🛠️ First up we had the suspension components from the legendary Subaru P1.
Years of corrosion, grime and surface rust fully removed back to clean solid metal, ready for long-term protection and a fresh new look.

🦌 Next in was an aluminium back box and frame used for deer shooting equipment.
These parts had seen plenty of harsh weather conditions, so we fully prepared and treated them to help increase durability and lifespan.

🚙 Lastly we had a set of Discovery 4 bumper and window panels in for refurbishment.
Perfect way to freshen up ageing exterior parts and give them that clean OEM+ finish again.

⚙️ Every item went through our full prep process:

🚜✨ A Proper Special One for the Books… ✨🚜

We’re extremely pleased to have carried out this work on a classic Ford Super Major tractor – and not just any restoration either.

This one belongs to none other than Nairn's own Tilda Swinton 🎬⭐️

What makes this project even more special is the history behind it. This tractor originally belonged to Tilda's grandfather, and she remembers it from when she was just a little girl. Being entrusted with something carrying that much sentimental value was a real privilege.

We were approached on Tilda's behalf with a vision: to bring this family treasure back to its former glory, but with a unique twist. They trusted us to use our knowledge, experience, and creativity to take it to the next level 💭🔥

🔧 Work Carried Out:

✔️ Fully media blasted back to bare metal
✔️ All corrosion completely removed
✔️ Applied a high-build epoxy primer for maximum protection
✔️ Refinished in the iconic Ford Empire Blue 💙
✔️ Front panel and engine covers carefully rubbed back to preserve their authentic patina

✔️ Engine fully blasted and refinished in high-grade enamel
✔️ Upgraded lighting system with modern LED units 💡

This restoration was all about striking the perfect balance between preserving history and ensuring longevity—keeping the character while protecting it for many years to come.
