TBF Traffic takes safety seriously. Sadly, a major risk to traffic management operatives (TMOs) comes from driver incursions – members of the public driving onto or through a work site.
To deter drivers from entering sites, and to make it easier to take action against those who do, we have introduced incursion cameras from HRS on a major contract.
The set-up: two cameras per site. One on the gate, in conjunction with an incursion cone lamp; and one with the work gang. In the event of an incursion, operatives can hit a remote-control button to set off an alarm and notify the team. The camera stores footage from before and after the incident, allowing a fuller picture of events.
We will keep striving to minimise risk for our staff, exploring new tech and strengthening our safety systems.
