Unlike pesticides that use a 'scattershot' approach to pest control, pheromone systems can be fine-tuned to target specific species.

The effectiveness of pesticides varies massively, especially as more resistant species emerge, which can mean multiple expensive coats for lesser results. All the while, potentially poisoning the soil and contaminating the produce created on farms or in plant nurseries.

Pheromones, meanwhile, provide a tailored approach to managing pest populations. With the option to determine how long they must be effective for, which pest species they must deal with and the range of coverage.

Allowing pests to be removed while useful species such as pollinators remain. Keeping crops healthy and plant life in good condition.

We regularly work with academic partners and corporate investors in order to develop bespoke research around pest management systems.

In April, North Yorkshire Council raised the price for responding to issues involving several pests, including moths, beetles and cockroaches, from £100 to £160.

In places such as Florida, in the southeast of the US, there is a rapidly growing number of invasive species arriving through ports and sea freight.

With the boom of the plant nursery industry, imported plants and products create the perfect conditions for new pests to easily arrive and thrive. Carried to new areas unknowingly, without proper controls to identify them before they begin to spread.

In the US, farmers and everyday growers have been called on to help identify and track these populations, to better prevent the damage they are causing. It remains a difficult effort to maintain control over the situation as it develops.

Our research capabilities are well recognised and we have a great breadth of work with dozens of partners in the field of pest research.

With our effective infrastructure, we have a refined pipeline of development from species identification through to bespoke pest management systems. With connections to manufacturers to help turn any solution developed into a feasible end product for use.

Pheromone management offers a key tool for preventing the destruction of plant life by pests. In that, with the correct formulation, we can modify the behaviour of pest populations without the use of lingering chemical agents such as pesticides.

As part of our work in identifying pests, targeting vulnerabilities and developing mechanisms to manage pest populations, we often work with research partners to develop bespoke research.

Our facilities are able to provide the best in equipment for a wide variety of research needs. This also includes both long term pest research projects and shorter term sample testing or analysis.

We can carry a number of pest test groups, both general and specific to your particular needs. Allowing us to do onsite testing with control groups instead of relying only on simulated models.
