Running a business on 5Mbps is a massive challenge. We recently worked with a local firm in a rural spot where slow speeds were making daily tasks impossible. Teams calls were constantly cutting out and cloud backups were failing because the connection just could not cope.

We arrived to set up a professional Starlink installation. The jump from 5Mbps to a steady 150Mbps has really helped their productivity. Now they have clear video meetings and their data syncs to the cloud without any drama.

Getting high speed internet to remote locations is a big part of what we do. We handle the full setup from mounting the dish to getting your devices connected. Message us to see how we can help with your connectivity.

Is your current internet speed fast enough to keep up with your team?

Thinking about binning those slow office laptops?

Before you spend thousands on a new fleet, there might be a better way.

We recently worked with a local firm that felt their three year old laptops were past their best. They were sluggish and frustrating for the team to use. Instead of replacing them, we swapped the old hard drives for fast SSDs and increased the memory.

The result was a set of machines that felt brand new for a fraction of the cost. It saved the business a significant amount of money and kept perfectly good hardware out of the landfill.

Most of the time, it is not the processor causing the slowdown. It is the storage and memory. A quick upgrade can often add another three years of life to your current kit.

Are your office computers starting to feel the pace?

Tired of the WiFi dropping out the moment you walk into the boardroom?

As part of our IT in Action series we are looking at how to banish those annoying office black holes.

We recently visited a local distribution centre where the staff had to stand by a specific window just to send an email. It was a classic dead zone. Using a professional mesh system we were able to blanket the entire site in reliable coverage.

A proper site survey allows us to map out the signal and place access points exactly where they are needed. This creates a setup where your devices move between points without you even noticing. No more dropped video calls or lost connections when you move from your desk to the break room.

If your office has spots where the signal goes to die we can help you fix it for good.

Get in touch for a site survey to see how we can fix your coverage issues.

What is the one place in your office where the WiFi always seems to fail?

That moment when a dodgy email attachment almost wins.

Earlier today one of our local clients received an email that looked just realistic enough to be tempting. It was supposedly an unpaid invoice. They clicked. They opened the attachment.

Luckily our monitoring systems spotted the suspicious activity the second it started. We managed to isolate the infection and kill it off before it could spread through their office network. It turned a potential disaster into a quick fix and a cup of tea.

We see these phishing attempts every day. They are getting cleverer but the goal is always the same. They want into your files.

If an email feels slightly off or you were not expecting an attachment please stop and think. Give us a call instead. We would much rather check a safe file than spend the afternoon scrubbing a server.

If you need help keeping your business systems secure get in touch with us at Newark Computers.

Ever had an email from your boss that just did not feel right?

A local business we work with recently faced this exact situation. An email arrived appearing to be from the CEO asking for an urgent bank transfer. It looked spot on with the right tone of voice and a sense of urgency.

Fortunately the staff had recently completed their cyber awareness training and knew what to look for. When they paused to check the details our Advanced Threat Protection system had already flagged the message as a spoof. The attack was stopped before any money left the building.

It goes to show that a combination of smart software and a well trained team is the best way to stay safe online.

A local business recently faced every business owner’s nightmare.

Important files were deleted by mistake. They tried to restore them from their local backup only to find it had failed without any warning. That is the moment where your heart drops.

Luckily we had set up a multi layered system for them. Their local drive failed but our off site cloud backup was working perfectly. We stepped in and restored everything in less than 15 minutes.

Having one backup is a start but having a second copy somewhere else is what saves the day. We call it a belt and braces approach.

Does your current setup have a safety net for your safety net?

Send us a message if you want us to check your backup system is working as it should.

When was the last time you actually tested your business backups?

Ever found yourself frozen like a statue on a video call while the kids are upstairs winning a virtual battle? It is the classic home office struggle where work and play fight for the same bandwidth. We call this the Weekend Warrior setup. One minute you are a professional and the next you are just the person slowing down the gaming.

For this IT in Action project we sorted this for a local business owner by setting up network segregation. It is a simple way of giving work and gaming their own separate lanes. Now the video calls are smooth and the gaming stays fast without any interference. No more dropped connections or shouting across the landing because someone is downloading a huge update.

Your home internet should be able to handle both a busy workday and a gaming marathon at the same time. If your connection is feeling the strain we can help you get things running properly. Send us a message to chat about a professional setup for your home office.

Your email storage is about to get a lot bigger. On July 1st 2026 Microsoft is doubling the mailbox limit for Business Basic, Standard, and Premium plans. You will get 100GB of space instead of the usual 50GB.

This change is part of a global pricing update. While price increases are never fun, there is a simple way to save some money here. If you currently pay for the Exchange Online Plan 2 add on just to get more storage, you can likely cancel it once this update rolls out. It is an easy way to reduce your monthly costs without losing any capacity.

We are currently helping our clients look through their subscriptions to make sure they are not paying for extras they no longer need. Send us a message if you want us to take a look at your setup for you.

Think your MFA is bulletproof? A new platform called Kali365 is proving that is not always the case. This phishing kit is designed to sneak past your security without even needing your password.

It works by using a device code trick. You might get an email about a shared file or an invoice. It asks you to go to a legitimate Microsoft page and enter a code. Because the website is real many people do not think twice. But entering that code lets an attacker register their own device to your account.

Once they are in a password reset might not be enough to kick them out. They use OAuth tokens to stay logged in. This means they keep access to your emails and files even after you change your password.

The best defense is to use Conditional Access. This lets you block the device code flow for your team. It keeps the hackers out while letting your staff work safely. We see this often at Newark Computers and it is why we focus on multiple security layers. Give us a shout if you want to check your current setup.

How do you keep your team updated on the latest phishing tricks?

Ever felt like your office network is haunted? We recently helped a local distribution firm with a ghost in the machine. Their internet would drop out every afternoon like clockwork then come back as if nothing happened. It was like a car that only stalls when the sun hits it.

After some digging we found the culprit. A network switch was tucked away in a small corner of the warehouse with no airflow. As the afternoon sun baked the roof that little box would overheat and give up the ghost.

A quick move to a cooler spot and some proper airflow fixed it. No exorcism was needed just a bit of common sense and a change of scenery. IT problems are not always about software or code. Sometimes it is just about where you put the hardware.

If your business tech is acting up give us a shout. We prefer solving puzzles to chasing ghosts.

Have you ever had a piece of tech behave badly for a reason that made no sense at first?
