Englingham Parish Council contracted MGH Consultants to develop, manufacture, deliver and install 6 interpretation panels for the villages of Eglingham, South Charlton and North Charlton.

Working with local residents to develop the words and source the images we then designed and consulted with them as well as assist with gaining Listed Building / Conservation Area consents.

A heritage interpretation trail consisting of 3 interpretation panels and a trail leaflet.

Focusing on the connections of JMW Turner with Norham, Northumberland we worked with Norham Arts Group under funding from various local funders including Berwick Upon Tweed Preservation Trust to project manage the development and installation of 3 interpretation panels from start to finish.

The project started in late 2018 and ended late 2019. English Heritage worked closely with MGH Consultants and Norham Arts Group, our main client, to finalise the trail and create the legacy deserved of such a wonderful historical link with one of the world's finest landscape painter's and interpreters of light.

Having spent countless hours in Norham I can understand Turner's affinity with the village and surrounding castle landscapes. It is so small yet very active and full of people only so willing to help and assist. I feel I have made new friends in the area and was really quite sad when the project finished.

JMW Turner and Norham - Turner's View interpretation project, Norham, Northumberland.

We're working on two more interpretation panels for Norham Arts Group and Berwick upon Tweed Preservation Trust. A lovely group of people to work with and looking forward to seeing the results in situ in the next few months.

We're working closely with English Heritage and Historic England to gain Scheduled Monmument Consent to install one of the two panels at Norham Castle. The image in this post shows a site options appraisal mockup to illustrate to HE/EH how the panel would fit within the scheduled area. The other panel will be situated on the village green.
