"We can't afford to go solar right now."
It's the most common reason businesses delay β and it's often based on an outdated
assumption: that on-site solar means a big capital outlay and a maintenance headache.
Here's how the deal at Marelli's Sunderland plant actually works:
β
A 2.4MW solar and battery system, funded in full β zero upfront cost β
Marelli simply buys
the solar power it generates at 10.6p/kWh β less than half the current market rate β
The
system is fully maintained for the entire 25 years, including inverter replacements every 12
years β
At the end of the term, Marelli owns the system outright β at no cost
No cheque to write. No maintenance to manage. And a valuable asset owned free and clear at
the end β on top of Β£100,000+ in projected year-one savings and 345 tonnes of COβ prevented.
Fusion Power Solutions originated the project, introducing Marelli to Arin Power for the design,
with SNRG funding it.
The takeaway: cutting your energy costs and your carbon doesn't have to start with a cheque. It
starts with the right conversation.
If "we can't afford it" has been holding your site back, it's worth a second look.
