We're excited to be taking part in TechNExt Festival 2026 with a special event at Grainger Hub Newcastle, delivered in partnership with Barclays Eagle Labs, Tech Builders NCL and Peter Pease Learning Psychology.

The day begins with Tech Builders NCL, a free co-working club bringing together some of the North East's most ambitious founders, operators and builders. No panels, no pitch competitions and no awkward networking,just focused time to work alongside people who understand the challenges of building and growing a business.

We're also delighted to welcome Steven Roberts of SR&F and formally Barclays Eagle Labs, who will share lessons from more than 30 years supporting entrepreneurs, innovators and high-growth businesses. Drawing on his experience building one of the UK's most influential startup support networks, Steven will explore the habits, decisions and behaviours that consistently help founders succeed. Selected founders will also have the opportunity to take part in pre-arranged mentoring conversations.

We'll then move into a Lunch & Learn session with Dr Peter Pease, business psychologist, researcher and AI capability specialist.

As AI becomes embedded into everyday business tools, many organisations are adopting it without fully understanding the implications for governance, compliance and data protection. Dr Pease will break down what founders and business leaders need to know in plain English, including:

✅ The practical implications of the EU AI Act for UK businesses
✅ AI-related GDPR and data protection responsibilities
✅ Simple steps to reduce AI-related risk
✅ How high-performing organisations develop AI capability
✅ Why smaller businesses can gain a competitive advantage through responsible AI adoption

Someone walked into the building last week looking for business support.

He was working alone at home.

My first thought?
You don’t need more tools. You need people.

So I suggested he come along to Tech Builders NCL

Yesterday I walked in and saw him in the middle of a group - laptop open, deep in conversation, meeting people, sharing ideas.

And I had one of those “this is exactly why we are here” moments.

Sometimes the biggest thing founders need isn’t funding, advice, or another platform.

It’s simply a room full of the right people.

Huge credit to Jason Nesbitt 👨‍💻 and Richard Blakeborough for creating something people can walk into and instantly feel part of.
