We aim to massively improve recycling of marine plastics in communities around the world. This raise will help us build a team to market our portfolio of raw materials and our containerised recycling plant, taking it from our coastline to theirs.

We're conducting a real world trial in Central London this week.

We're trying to work out if street advertising is an effective way to reach people.

So if you are in The City between London Bridge and Liverpool Street, or in The West End between Holborn and Paddington, keep an eye our for our adverts on bus stops and train platforms between 4pm and 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Our first test on Friday afternoon taught us plenty about the mechanics, but this week will be the true test of the economics (the big unknown for us is the automated bidding element and finding a balance point between delivery and cost)

Use Case: Philips MyCreation Coastal Breeze Collection & Dropli Fishnet Lamps

The client: Signify (formerly Philips Lighting)

The challenge: Signify wanted a lamp that was sustainable at every stage, from the raw material to the way it was made and delivered.

The material: Our recycled polymer made from end-of-life fishing nets recovered in Cornwall. Without proper recycling infrastructure, most nets worldwide end up burned or landfilled.

The result: 0rCA was specified for the Philips MyCreation Coastal Breeze Collection. They were 3D printed on demand in regional hubs across Europe, North America and Asia. That meant less ocean waste, less shipping, no overproduction, and more local jobs. The lamps’ textures, inspired by sand dunes, flowing water, scales and nets, were a nod to the material’s ocean origins.

Why it matters: A global manufacturer chose a recycled ocean material for a commercial product. This showed that 0rCA can meet the standards of mainstream B2B manufacturing.

Fishing nets are built to survive years at sea. That's exactly what makes them so hard to recycle.

They tangle, wrap around rotors and jam standard shredders. So we partnered with GTJones to build a shredder engineered specifically for end-of-life fishing nets.

It's one piece of the process that turns waste nets from Cornish harbours into engineering-grade recycled nylon.

From fishing net to finished product.

Every product in this carousel started life as an end-of-life fishing net in a Cornish harbour.

We recover those nets, clean them, and turn them into engineering-grade recycled nylon (rPA6). That material is now going into products across nine sectors:

Nylon 6 monofilament nets are held together by thousands of tiny knots, and under the microscope, those knots tell a story.

Each one traps dirt, algae and biofilm. In the water, this build-up makes nets more visible to fish, reducing catch rates and shortening a net's working life.

At end of life, it creates a second problem: contamination locked inside the knots is extremely hard to remove. That's why conventional recycling of fishing nets often produces messy, inconsistent material.

At 0rCA, we've spent years developing a specialised cleaning and processing method designed for exactly this challenge. The result? Used nets transformed into engineering-grade recycled materials, setting a new standard for sustainable marine plastics.
