People often worry that having a security system installed means a day of disruption, cables everywhere, and plaster dust on the carpet.

Here is what actually happens on a typical Secure Dimensions installation day.

We arrive at the time we agreed. We cover our work areas before we start. The installation of a standard intruder alarm system takes between two and four hours depending on the size of the property. We run cables neatly and discreetly wherever possible. We tidy everything before we leave. We then walk you through the system so you are confident using it before we go.

Most customers tell us afterwards that it was less intrusive than they expected. Some have told us it was less disruptive than having a boiler serviced.

A video doorbell is not a security system. Here is why that distinction matters.

Video doorbells have become enormously popular and they do one thing well: they let you see who is at your front door.

What they do not do is protect your home.

A video doorbell has no siren to deter an intruder who has already decided to enter. It has no passive infrared detection covering the sides or rear of your property. It is not recognised by most insurers as a qualifying security system. And it can be disabled or removed by a determined intruder in seconds.

We fit doorbell cameras as part of larger CCTV systems all the time, and they are a useful addition. But if a video doorbell is the only security measure on your home, your home is not protected. It is observed.
