🚭 Disposable V**e Waste is rapidly becoming one of the UK’s fastest growing environmental challenges.
At DGSA Solutions, working in collaboration with Haz Tech, we are helping develop compliant recovery pathways for:
🔋 Lithium batteries
♻️ WEEE components
🧪 Hazardous fractions
🌍 Sustainable material recovery
This is not simply waste disposal, it is structured resource recovery designed to improve environmental outcomes and reduce reliance on outdated disposal methods.

One of the biggest hidden risks in waste compliance is not always what businesses are doing today…

…it’s what they’ve simply carried forward unquestioned for years.

Inherited EWC waste codes, undocumented decisions, and “we’ve always used this code” approaches are still incredibly common across the sector.

That’s exactly why I produced this practical downloadable guide:

📘 EWC Classification & Misclassification Guide

What Industry Gets Wrong, and How To Do It Right

Inside the guide:

✔ Step-by-step waste classification process
✔ Mirror entries explained simply
✔ Common compliance failures
✔ Audit and inspector red flags
✔ Practical checklist for internal review

Designed as a practical internal reference for organisations handling waste classification responsibilities.

♻️ USED VAPES ARE JUST THE START OF THE WEEE PROBLEM ♻️
Disposable v**es are now one of the fastest-growing electrical waste streams in the UK, containing:
🔋 lithium batteries
⚡ electrical components
🧪 hazardous residues
♻️ recyclable plastics and metals

Throwing them into general waste creates:
❌ fire risk
❌ environmental damage
❌ WEEE non-compliance
❌ avoidable liability for your business
✅ Haz Tech provides a simple, fully compliant v**e collection service with branded containers, scheduled collections, responsible UK recycling and full documentation.

But our service doesn’t stop there…
Haz Tech also supports the compliant recovery and recycling of:
✔ redundant IT equipment
✔ electrical appliances
✔ cables and components
✔ battery waste
✔ end-of-life electronic devices
✔ wider commercial and industrial WEEE streams
💚 One partner.
💚 One compliant collection route.
💚 Responsible UK recycling.

📩 Message Haz Tech today quoting TJH-DGSA to discuss your v**e or WEEE collection requirements, or message me directly.

⚠️ How confident are you that your EWC waste codes would stand up to regulatory scrutiny?
Across the UK waste sector, one of the most common compliance failures remains:
inherited, assumed, or poorly justified EWC classification.
Many businesses are operating with waste codes that would be difficult to defend if challenged.
To help address this, I’ve now released a practical downloadable resource:
📘 EWC Classification & Misclassification Guide

A useful internal reference for waste producers, contractors, healthcare providers, and compliance managers.

That’s a wrap on the ADR in Plain English series.

The final article is now live and focuses on something that often gets overlooked:

👉 Documentation and record keeping

It’s one thing to follow the rules, but being able to demonstrate compliance is just as important.

This article brings together everything covered in the series and looks at how documentation underpins safe and compliant operations.

Thanks to everyone who has followed and engaged with the series so far, really appreciate the feedback and conversations.

Drivers, operators, and those involved in transporting dangerous goods will know that ADR sets out a clear framework for safe operations.
But one of the most important things to understand is this:
ADR is not one-size-fits-all

Different dangerous goods carry different risks, and because of that, they require different levels of control.

ADR Chapter 8.5 focuses on these additional requirements, which can apply depending on:
The type of material
The hazard classification
The level of risk involved

In practice, this is often where compliance can become unclear, not because the rules aren’t there, but because it’s easy to assume that all dangerous goods are treated the same.
They are not.

In Episode 8 of the ADR in Plain English series, I’ve broken this down into simple, practical guidance to help make sense of where and why these additional requirements apply.

My latest blog post can be found here:

If you’re working in waste, hazardous goods, logistics, or compliance, this is a useful one to be aware of, and as always, feel free to share with colleagues.

ADR doesn’t just apply when a vehicle is moving.
Chapter 8.4 focuses on what happens when dangerous goods vehicles are stationary — and how they must be supervised or secured.
I’ve broken this down in Episode 6 of the ADR in Plain English series.
