Annual Dealer awards at Celtic Manor – winners announced

The MAN network in the UK has been celebrating its successes at the com-pany’s annual Dealer of the Year Awards event – this year held at Celtic Manor in Newport, South Wales. Three winner awards were presented to AN Richards (Wrexham), HRVS (Sheffield) and DSV Commercials (Imminham).

Dealers are measured against the MAN Up Time Principle (UTP), which rec-ords key customer support functions such as MOT first-time pass rates, emergency call out attendance time and PMI schedule adherence in every Dealership, as well as against independent Customer Satisfaction Index results – making the criteria for success extremely tough.

The awards programme includes every MAN Dealer in the UK, both wholly-owned MAN Branches and Private Capital Dealers.

This year’s winners in the three categories of Small, Medium and Large Dealer were, respectively; AN Richards, the family-owned dealership in North Wales, HRVS Group’s Sheffield location and DSV Commercials at South Killingholme. Each winner receives a cheque for £10,000 to invest into its business plus a fantastic Porsche driving experience day at Silverstone.

Runners up in the respective categories were; Imperial Commercials (Peter-borough), MAN Truck & Bus Swindon and MAN Truck & Bus Manchester – each receiving £5,000.

Commenting on the award evening, MAN’s Head of UK Network Develop-ment, Andy Turner, said, “Our annual Dealer of the Year Awards are now established as a highlight in our corporate events calendar. It’s about our Dealers proving their continuous commitment to the operators of MAN vehi-cles, supporting them 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The success of these six Dealers is a testament to the dynamic and innovative performance of their management and the teams they have around them. Each operation has consistently achieved very high standards in meeting MAN’s strenuous UK service-levels, and those performances have been the solid base on which this year’s hard-fought Awards have been won.”

Eveready Hire takes MAN trucks the Ryder way

Independent regional plant and tool hire firm Eveready Hire has added three Euro 5 trucks to its expanding delivery fleet on a contract hire deal from Ryder. The new trucks comprise of trucks, one of which is a MAN TGF 26-360 26-tonner. The trucks are now operating from depots in Watford, Leatherhead and Godstone. CJ LANG TAKE MAN FLEET FOR SPAR CONTRACT

Scotland’s largest independent food wholesaler and retailer, CJ Lang & Son in Dundee, has put to the road a new, 19-strong MAN fleet for its long-established contract of supplying food and consumables to the SPAR convenience store chain. 16 new TGS 26.360 6x2 drawbar units and three TGS 26.440 6x2 tractor units are already in operation, joining the existing fleet and delivering around 1000 loads weekly to over 300 SPAR stores throughout Scotland.

The new fleet is equipped with MAN Fleet Management packages, featuring the web-based MAN EcoStyle driver monitoring system.
“MAN’s fleet management system is excellent,” said Distribution Director, John Leitch, “We have used it on our MAN chassis for the last 12 years, and, over time, have seen it mature into a well-developed, user-friendly and, ultimately, invaluable piece of technology. ”

Ellisons Travel has put its first Euro 6 coach on the road – a NEOPLAN P20 Tourliner.

Andy Magowan, Managing Director of Ellison’s Travel said - “The vehicle was ready for us on 1st March 2014, as promised by MAN. So it went straight down to London with Manchester City staff and families going to the League Cup Final at Wembley over that weekend, and didn’t come back until the start of the week.”

The Ellison’s Tourliner joins a fast-growing fleet of top quality NEOPLAN products in the fleet, all dedicated to individual customers – many of them Premier League football clubs. This number of vehicles does not mean Ellison’s can afford to have any individual coach off the road unexpectedly however, and alongside its own technicians, the operator relies increasingly on MAN Truck & Bus in Manchester. Andy Magowan reports, “Each of our major customers for these coaches sees them almost as their own property; we couldn’t go switching one for another without an extremely good reason, so speed and quality of service are paramount.

Aberdeen-based Caledonian Logistics is taking delivery of 13 new MAN TGX 26.540 6x2 tractor units for its Aberdeen, Inverness and Cumbernauld locations. Most of the new 540PS fleet replacements are already on the company’s high-mileage operation which sees them covering over 350,000km a year. Two units will be assigned to Cumbernauld for radial distribution work.

“We invested £1.6 million in an MAN fleet two years ago, on a two-year Contract Hire package,” said Managing Director, Derek Mitchell, “Although the 440PS units performed well, it was the two 540s that really stood out, so we have taken the decision to move up the power range for the majority of our premium duty tractor fleet. Initial fuel economy looks to be favourable, although we expect productivity to improve further once the vehicles have ‘bedded-in’ in a month or two.”

Aberdeen-based Caledonian Logistics is taking delivery of 13 new MAN TGX 26.540 6x2 tractor units for its Aberdeen, Inverness and Cumbernauld locations.
