Troedrhiwfuwch was once a thriving mining village in the Rhymney valley, situated between Pontlottyn & Tirphil.

It was once home to 600+ people, but an apparent impending landslip from the shifting mountain meant that residents had to abandon the village. Today there is barely a trace of the village left standing on that mountain side.

Just two properties remain: the old post office which has now been converted to a residential dwelling, and this 3 bedroom now detached home that was once a part of a terrace overlooking the valley. Why this house survived while all the others didn't remains a bit of a mystery.
