What a way to start 2026! Other countries taking action 👏 🌎

In the US, California’s updated plastic bag ban is now in effect:

🚫 no more plastic checkout bags including the thicker “reusable” plastic bags. The loophole that once allowed thicker plastic bags labelled as reusable has been closed.

What is permitted as an alternative:

🛍️ Recycled‑paper bags.
♻️ Durable reusable bags e.g. bags made from cloth, canvas or other sturdy, non‑plastic materials that meet durability standards.
🌱 Certified compostable bags in some areas where 'local composting infrastructure exists' and they meet 'recognised standards',
