A small milestone for us at The Hub Newry. 🔒

We’re pleased to share that we’ve achieved Cyber Essentials certification.

It’s one of those things most people will never notice when they walk through our doors, but that’s often the case with the important stuff that happens behind the scenes.

For us, it wasn’t about ticking a box. It was about making sure the right foundations are in place to help protect our business, our members and the information entrusted to us.

A big thank you to Gemnet for guiding us through the process, answering our many questions and helping us navigate what can sometimes feel like a very technical world.

Sometimes the best improvements are the ones that quietly sit in the background, helping everything work as it should.

For years, we've been told that flexibility is the key to better work.
And in many ways, it has been.

But the more conversations we have at The Hub, the more we realise that most people aren't trying to fit work around an empty diary.

They're balancing work alongside family, caring responsibilities, appointments, volunteering, community commitments and all the other things that make up real life.

Sometimes flexibility helps.

Sometimes it simply means work spreads into every available gap.

In our latest article, Suzanne reflects on why good work needs more than flexibility alone, and why having the right environment, structure and support can make all the difference.

What does flexibility mean to you these days? Has it made work easier, or harder to switch off from?

Not every business needs the same type of workspace.

Some people need a dedicated private office for their team.

Others need somewhere professional and welcoming to meet clients, focus properly or simply work away from the distractions of home.

We currently have availability within our ground floor workspace at The Hub Newry, including a mix of private offices and flexible front workspace with its own entrance onto Margaret Street.

✔ Dedicated private offices
✔ Front ground floor workspace with own entrance
✔ Flexible layout potential
✔ City centre location
✔ Calm, professional environment

One thing we’ve learned over the years is that the right environment can make work feel far more manageable day to day.

If you’ve been thinking about a more established base for your business or would simply like to see the space, feel free to message us or arrange a visit. 💛

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that most people don’t lack ambition.
What they often lack is capacity.

The time, energy and headspace to keep everything moving while also trying to do good work, support others and maintain some sort of balance outside work too.

Flexible work can create huge opportunities, but it can also bring blurred boundaries, constant switching between responsibilities and the feeling of never fully switching off.

That’s why so many conversations I’m having now are less about productivity and more about sustainability.

How do we create work that feels steadier, more supported and more sustainable over time?

Sometimes the biggest return on investment isn’t doing more.
It’s having the right environment, structure and people around you so work feels lighter and more manageable day to day.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing more reflections around flexible work, leadership, coworking and the realities of modern working life. 💛

What helps you feel more grounded and supported in your work when life gets busy?

We currently have a small number of dedicated desks and private offices available at The Hub in Newry. 💛

Lately we’ve been chatting to more people who are looking for:
✨ a calmer place to work
✨ more separation between work and home
✨ structure and routine
✨ community without pressure
✨ somewhere professional that still feels relaxed and human

Sometimes the biggest difference isn’t a new productivity system or strategy.

It’s simply having somewhere steady to go each day. Somewhere comfortable, supportive and designed to help you focus without feeling isolated.

That’s always been one of the intentions behind The Hub.

If your current working setup isn’t quite working for you anymore, you’re very welcome to come in for a coffee and a look around.

💛 Some podcast conversations stay with you long after you record them, and this one with Stacey Sheppard from The Tribe in Devon is definitely one of those.

We talked about entrepreneurship, coworking, AI, community, flexibility and the emotional realities of building a business while also carrying real life alongside it.

One line from Stacey has stayed with me ever since:

👉 “Coworking spaces are the pathway to entrepreneurship. The infrastructure already exists, it’s just so underused.”

As work continues to evolve, this conversation honestly feels even more relevant now than when we first recorded it.

Because people don’t just need tools and technology.

They need environments and support systems that help them keep going.

One of the nicest things about last week was how relaxed and natural the morning felt.

No formal programme.
No pressure.
Just coffee, cake and conversations.

It was lovely to welcome Judith Poucher and Ruth Murphy fromClanrye Group along to The Hub to celebrate with us.

What stayed with me afterwards was how many of the conversations naturally moved beyond work itself and into life in general, the pressures people quietly carry, and the importance of community and support around us.

Sometimes those simple moments of connection matter more than we realise. 💛

Sometimes the biggest challenge around work isn’t motivation or productivity.

It’s the invisible mental load people are carrying around work itself.

School runs.
Caring responsibilities.
Exam season.
Unexpected life events.
Trying to balance work around constantly changing routines and capacity.

I wrote a new article this weekend exploring the small things that quietly make work easier, and why supportive environments and community matter more than many people realise.

Because sometimes the biggest difference isn’t a dramatic transformation.

It’s simply having an environment that supports your real life capacity a little better. 💛

We’ve a really lovely front reception / ground floor unit becoming available at The Hub on Margaret Street and I think it could be a brilliant fit for the right business 💛

The space is street facing with its own dedicated entrance and flexible in how it could be used, ideal for a small business, consultancy, studio, wellness offering or client-facing service looking for a visible city centre base within an established professional environment.

What makes it different is that you’re not just renting four walls. You’re becoming part of an existing local business ecosystem and community.

Ideally we’re looking for someone who wants a longer-term dedicated base, but we’re also open to conversations around consistent repeat use for the right fit.

If you’ve been thinking about moving out of home working, growing into your next space, or creating a more established presence for your business, feel free to get in touch for a chat or to arrange a viewing.

Sometimes the real value of coworking is the part people don’t immediately see.

This week’s European Coworking Day celebrations at The Hub were a lovely reminder that coworking has never really just been about desks and offices.

It’s about people feeling supported while they build something. Having somewhere to go where work feels a little lighter, conversations happen naturally, and you’re surrounded by others who understand the realities of running a business, leading a team or simply trying to keep all the plates spinning.

What I always love about this day is how unforced it feels.

No formal programme. No pressure to network or sell yourself.

Just members, local businesses, friends and partners coming together over coffee, cake and conversation in the same way they do throughout the year.

Some stayed for the full morning, some called in briefly, and others simply carried on with their day knowing the space was there if and when they wanted to step into it.

That freedom matters.

Because belonging isn’t about being visible all the time. It’s about knowing you’re part of something.

I’ve shared some reflections on why I believe neighbourhood coworking has become so much more than flexible workspace, especially in regional towns and cities where connection, capacity and community matter more than ever.
