to our member, Playr-Fit Teamwear on completing a Β£2 million investment in their Newry HQ, which will see the creation of 12 new jobs over the next 12 months.

The rapidly-growing teamwear company employs 31 people in its wider business and is targeting further growth in Ireland & Great Britain to meet growing market demand.

Founded in 2018 by Kieran Quinn and Steven Burns, Playr-Fit supplies bespoke sportswear and teamwear to a wide range of clubs, schools, colleges, universities and businesses.

The company bought the building located on the Forkhill Road on the outskirts of Newry in early 2025 and went on to launch an extensive renovation and redevelopment programme.

The 12 new roles will include a mix of Newry-based support functions, remote and field-based sales roles and positions linked to a planned expansion in GB.

Playr-Fit will begin recruiting in the coming months, with more details to be announced as positions become available.

Congrats to Kieran and Steven and all the team in this exciting next chapter for a fantastic, ambitious, local business and we wish you every continued success as you continue to go from strength to strength.

to officially launch the 27th edition of the Newry Christmas Charity Lunch which takes place on Wednesday 2nd December in Canal Court Hotel & Spa from 12 noon - 3:30pm.

This year's event will see six local charities that make a real difference within the Newry area throughout the Festive Season benefiting from the fundraising effort including:

β€’ SVP - Society of St. Vincent de Paul Ireland
β€’ Bolster Community
β€’ Caring Coins Association
β€’ Women's Aid Armagh Down
β€’ Simon Community Northern Ireland
β€’ Cuan Mhuire Newry

It is supported by Newry Chamber and NEWRY BID. Both local business organisations announced at the recent Greater Newry Business Awards that they were stepping in to assist volunteers after the future of the event was cast into doubt due to various challenges in adapting to changing need in the area.

Since 2000, the annual fundraising event has raised more than Β£2.1 million for those most in need across Greater Newry, thanks to the incredible generosity of the local business community, ensuring that no child within our local community went without a gift at Christmas.

Over the last 26 years, however, the challenges facing families have changed and for many households, the greatest concern at Christmas time is no longer just about what is under the tree, but how to afford food, heating, clothing, essential household items and support during difficult times.

After very careful consideration, the decision has been made to move away from the toy mountain model and instead focus efforts on supporting the wider needs of families through local charities at Christmas through cash and voucher donations.

We are asking you to buy tables for the event and if possible, come along to the event with a cheque or make a donation by the online donation link below.

Now that the future of the event has been secured let's make this year's event bigger and better so that more families and individuals in need can be reached.

Tickets are Β£70.00 + VAT each or Β£650.00 + VAT for a table of 10 and all online bookings for the lunch event and donations can be made below.

to our Corporate Patron, AIB who have recently celebrated 60 years from the foundation of the Newry Branch with local customers, business and community representatives.

It's clear that while much has changed over the past 60 years in the world of banking, the values of trust, community and innovation remain just as vital today.
