to see construction begin on the new £21.3 million Newry Theatre & Conference Centre, a landmark development in the Council's regeneration and investment plans for the city.

The project is funded by the Council with support from the Shared Island Initiative & Belfast Region City Deal funding for public realm work, which will also include a performance space to the rear of the new facility.

The Theatre & Conference Centre is a key project in the Council's Newry City Centre Regeneration project and is expected to open to the public in Spring 2028.

Woodvale Construction, the appointed contractor for the project will now renovate the historic Grade II-listed Newry Town Hall and build a multi-functional venue upon the site of the neighbouring Sean Hollywood Arts Centre. Linked by a glazed atrium, the two buildings will operate as a single location.

Complementing the historic 460-seater Newry Town Hall theatre, the new auditorium will have 255 seats capable of being used in range of configurations, with the latest in AV and performance systems.

In its expanded conference layout, the versatile space will also be able to accommodate up to 315 seats.

to host both the Infrastructure Minister, Liz Kimmins MLA & Caoimhe Archibald MLA, Minister for the Economy at a special event with our Corporate Patrons in The Whistledown Hotel in Warrenpoint.

Kindly supported by The Exact Group, Kilmorey Care, Southern Regional College & S&W Wholesale provided a unique opportunity for our Corporate Patrons, which includes many of the leading employers from across Greater Newry, to meet with the two Ministers.

Greater Newry can capitalise on huge opportunities for economic growth in the coming years if the significant challenges can be overcome through a partnership approach with local Ministers and greater funding collaboration with the UK & Irish governments.

That was the clear message that resonated from a positive 'Meet The Ministers' event with the theme of the day, 'Developing Greater Newry into a Sustainable Economic Powerhouse on the Dublin-Belfast Corridor'.

Following the Ministerial Q&A with the Chamber CEO, Michael Savage, a thought-provoking panel discussion took place on the theme with great contributions from Anthony McVeigh, Ronan Callan, Lee Campbell and Cathal O'Neill and moderated by our Board Member, Deborah Loughran.

Greater Newry has huge potential to deliver economic growth over the coming years and yesterday's event demonstrated the Chamber's commitment to working collaboratively with our partners in Government and maximising that potential.

The Chamber would like to thank both Ministers for taking the time out of their busy schedules to come and engage with us and we look forward to continuing this positive engagement over the coming months.
