Hugh McCoy and Catherine Caherty were married on 25th. May 1893 and lived in a cottage now numbered 37 Cortreasla Road, Silverbridge. They lived together in this cottage and proceeded to have a large family, some of whom married and had families of their own, with the result that by now in 2015 we do not know the number of descendants. Catherine survived her husband by many years and in the 1940's was living there with her daughters Kate and Julia, son James (Jemmy) and his son Jim. Mary's eldest daughter, Margaret Reel had also lived there for many years. In those years as well many of the family visited with the result that the cottage is fondly remembered by a large number of people still alive. Kate and Jemmy continued to lve there until the early 1970's when they moved to a new house in Glassdrummond. Then in the early 1970's the land was sold to Gerry Rowland RIP. Gerry's aunt, Julia had been married to James McCoy, eldest son of Hugh. Rowland's also bought the land previosly owned by Paddy McCoy and by Paddy Quinn around the house and have operated a quarry here. The present owner is Gerry's son Gerard and he is willing to allow our society to restore the cottage, provided that he retains ownership. As a family member, he has joined our society and will help with access arrangements, using land previously owned by Paddy Quinn..
