Did You Know? Clear glass can be a safety risk — and in UK workplaces, it must be made visible.
Floor-to-ceiling glass doors, meeting-room partitions and glazed screens can be almost invisible in the wrong light. That puts staff, visitors and customers at risk of walking straight into them.
That’s where glass manifestation comes in: visible dots, bands, patterns or branded graphics applied to glazing to make it clear, safe and accessible.
For relevant glazing, UK guidance requires markings at two distinct height zones:
• 850–1000mm from the finished floor level
• 1400–1600mm from the finished floor level
The markings must be clearly visible against the background from both sides of the glass and in varying lighting conditions.

Once sunlight passes through glass, much of that energy is absorbed by the floor, furniture and walls, then released as heat inside the room.
That’s why opening a window often isn’t enough. The heat has already entered.
Solar-control window film works differently: it reflects and rejects a proportion of the sun’s energy at the glass, before it can turn your conservatory, orangery or glazed extension into a greenhouse.
Some specialist films can reject up to 75% of total solar energy — without the cost and disruption of replacing the glazing. Performance depends on the film and glass type.
