75 years ago, Seddon Plant & Engineers began its journey. ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Our family business was established with a simple approach to looking after customers. Understand the equipment, give straightforward advice and stand behind what you supply.

A great deal has changed since then.

The machines have changed. The technology has changed. The industries we support have changed.

But the principles behind the business have remained remarkably consistent.

Today, Seddon Plant & Engineers supports customers across the UK from our branches in Bolton, Normanton and Birmingham, working with some of the leading equipment manufacturers in the industry.

None of that happens without people.

The people who have worked for Seddons Plant & Engineers over the decades. The customers who have trusted us with their businesses, fleets and equipment. The manufacturers and suppliers who have worked alongside us. And the people who continue to move the business forward today.

Some of those relationships now stretch back generations, and that is something we are incredibly proud of.

So this milestone is an opportunity to say thank you.

To everyone who has played a part in the Seddons Plant story, whether you have worked with us for decades or only recently started dealing with us, thank you for being part of it.

Your Trusted Equipment Partner. Since 1951. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Hereโ€™s to the next chapter.

For 75 years, our customers have been building, maintaining and improving the world around us.

Our job has been to help them keep doing it. ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Since 1951, Seddon Plant & Engineers has supported businesses across construction, civil engineering, utilities, plant and tool hire, landscaping and groundcare.

Those industries have changed enormously in that time.

The machines have become more capable, the technology more advanced and the demands placed on equipment greater.

We have changed with them.

New products, new manufacturers and new ways of working have become part of what we do, but the reason behind it has stayed simple.

To understand what our customers need, supply equipment that is right for the job and provide the parts, technical knowledge and workshop support that keeps it working.

We have never existed separately from the industries we serve. We have grown alongside them.

75 years of supporting the people who build, maintain and keep things moving.

And we are still doing it today.

If you need equipment, parts or workshop support, speak to your local Seddon Plant branch today. ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ“ž

Most of what a business becomes is decided by what it was built on. ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Seddon Plant & Engineers was founded in 1951 as a family business, and it is still run as one 75 years later.

A great deal has changed in that time. The equipment we supply, the brands we work with and the way our customers work have all moved on considerably.

Some of the business would be unrecognisable to the people who started it .... Other parts of it would be very familiar.

Either way, the job has not really changed. Understand the equipment properly, give customers straight advice, support what we sell, and turn up when something goes wrong.

That is what the last 75 years have been built on, and those foundations still shape how our branches, workshops and parts teams work today.

The equipment has changed a great deal in 75 years. What the business was built on has not.

If you are looking for a supplier who will still be there after the sale, speak to your local Seddon Plant branch team today. ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ“ž

A machine waiting on a part is not doing any work, and neither is the operator. ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Seddon Plant & Engineers was founded in 1951, and supplying parts has gone hand in hand with servicing and repairing machines from the very beginning.

75 years later, our parts teams are still doing much the same job. Identifying exactly what the customer needs and getting the right part to them so the machine can get back to work.

Some parts are straightforward. Others take a little more finding.

Either way, the approach is the same. Identify the machine properly, confirm the correct part, be straight about availability and get it moving.

That knowledge has been built over 75 years, working with a wide range of equipment and manufacturers. It is experience that still shapes the way our parts and workshop teams support customers today.

Because supplying the machine is only part of the job. Keeping it working is what comes next.

Most of a machineโ€™s working life happens long after it has been sold. ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Seddon Plant & Engineers was founded in 1951, and engineering has been part of what we do from the very beginning.

75 years later, our workshop teams are still servicing, repairing and diagnosing the equipment our customers rely on every day.

Some jobs are routine .... Others take a little more finding.

Either way, the approach is the same. Understand the problem properly, explain what is needed, agree the cost before any work goes ahead, and get the machine back out working as quickly as possible.

That knowledge has been built over 75 years and still shapes the way our workshop teams support customers today.

Supplying the machine is only part of the job. Keeping it working is what comes next.

If you have equipment that needs attention, speak to your local Seddon Plant branch team today. ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ“ž

Seddon Plant was founded in 1951. ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Seventy five years on, the reason customers stay with us is not just the quality equipment we supply itself. It is about who turns up when something needs sorting.

Finding the right machine. Keeping it running. Being there when it goes wrong. That has been the job since 1951, even as the equipment on our shelves has changed completely.

We call that the Seddon Standard, and it is earned one job at a time.

If you want to see what that looks like for your business, speak to your local branch or our sales team.๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ“ž

Most of what root cutting costs does not show up on the tool.

A chain built for wood fibre meets grit, sand and stone every time it goes below soil level, and it dulls in a fraction of the time it would in clean timber. Progress slows as it goes. One buried stone can end that chain's working life outright, and the job stops while it is changed.

None of that is a fault in the chainsaw. It is a tool working in material it was never designed for.

Our latest guide sets out what goes wrong below soil level, and what the Arbortech Tools ALLSAW BA200X does differently as a tool built for in-ground cutting from the start.

We will also have the BA200X on our stand at GroundsFest 2026, 16 to 17 September at NAEC Stoneleigh, stand L28, if you would like to see it working.

A Cleaner Way To Cut Below Ground Level ... ๐Ÿ‘‡

Not every landscaping job happens above ground. Root cutting, turf lifting and buried timber work all happen below it, in conditions most cutting tools were never designed for.

Chainsaws are built for clean wood, and one buried stone can quickly damage a chain. Reciprocating saws can bind in dense or compacted material, and a mattock or root axe will do the job, but it is slow, labour-intensive and hard on the operator.

Our guide sets out where standard tools tend to fail below soil level, what the Arbortech ALLSAW BA200X does differently, and which of its blades suits which job, from root cutting through turf lifting to buried timber.

We will also have the unit on our stand at GroundsFest 2026, 16 to 17 September at NAEC Stoneleigh, stand L28, if you would like to see it for yourself.
