This is an amazing wee group in North Berwick 🤩🍁🍂🦔

If you're looking for a fun forest school in East Lothian we have 2 spaces coming up in November on a Wednesday and spaces available now on Thursday - both groups run from 9.30 - 11.29 for 3 - 6 year olds. Our Tuesday and Thursday after school group is full.

Outdoor Adventurers run Forest School groups that promote curiosity, independence, wellbeing and fun.

What we do:
Discover and explore - follow the changing seasons, harness the weather, ask questions.
Connect with nature - make, create and learn, use all our senses.
Learn through play - follow our imaginations and interests.
Promote wellbeing - find a calm space, swing, sit by the fire.

Day 5 Fussy Eating
FAMILY MEALTIMES
We all have busy lives and most families have different schedules to each other so eating together is getting harder and harder. It may not be practical or possible to eat meals as a family but there are a few things that can be don’t to spend time with children as they eat.
- sit with your child when they are having a meal ie breakfast, lunch or dinner - even if you’re not having your meal try sitting with a drink or a snack. Don’t race about doing all the jobs in the kitchen that you think can’t wait, your child benefits from you sitting listening and chatting.
- try to set a couple of days a week to eat as a family even if it’s just the weekend.
- switch TVs off, don’t use electronics during meals and try to encourage set area for eating like a table.
Keep mealtimes together positive

SNACKING continued
A follow-up to Day 3. A simple list of quick, healthy snacks to replace always using pre-bought expensive snacks (although there is always a need to occasionally go for convenience so just do your best)
SNACK IDEAS
carrot sticks
cucumber sticks
pepper sticks
bread sticks
sliced pitta breads
sliced bagels
use houmous ot tzaziki or Marie rose dips
use cream cheese
oatcakes crackers and similar
plain popcorn
plain rice cakes
cheese cubes (cheaper than pre packed cheeses)
boiled egg sliced
chicken strips
ham slices salami slices
bananas
apples pears
strawberries blueberries raspberries
melon pineapple mango
kiwi
sandwich fingers
1/2 a filled wrap
toast
cereals low in sugar
Another good idea for quick easy snacks is to do some bulk baking and freeze them - mini muffins, cheese straws, flapjacks, mini quiches, mini pancakes or use a kids cookbook for low sugar cake recipes.
By using your own food for snacks it also reduces the use of PLASTIC PACKAGING waste.
